Yep exactly, that's why I think Bama makes it in over just about any one loss team this year.

Same issue as 11. They will do it to get the push to change and get to 8

Bama thinking it should be let into the playoffs based solely on the fact that they are Bama is some elitists snap. Reminds me of how all of Al Gore’s four kids got into Harvard. This junk about giving certain teams free passes based on reputation and name recognition needs to end. They played no rank teams and loss to the only one they played. Bama should be out of contention.

If conference titles don't matter, then go back to the BCS and let the best two teams fight it out. Never thought I'd prefer the BCS to a playoff, but if Bama keeps getting this privilege, the only solution is to retract.

You can have both. There can be a 4 or 8 team playoff with the BCS computers selecting the teams. If an 8 team playoff, there could be 5 automatic qualifiers for conference champs with computers seeding the remaining 3.

At least with computers there’s no element of human error or bias.

If Bama gets in with 1 loss, the 2 P5 Conferences left out are going to wreck some s***.

I've never understood the hate for Brando. He's been around long enough and seen the behind the scenes machinations to know what he's talking about here. I firmly believe there will be a push to put Alabama in the playoffs without a conference championship. It'll come from the SEC office to put two teams in the playoffs.

If there is a 1 loss champ in the pac-12 or the big 12, Alabama is not getting in. Period. If they did, and used the "best 4 teams" excuse then why even play the season? Why not just line up Clemson and Bama now and excuse any losses they have. The regular season must count and playoff committee knows it.

I wish the ones thAt get left out could wreck some shite, but really, what can they do? Raise hell and refuse to play? This committee bs has become so subjective it's ridiculous. Unless your team is obviously #1 or #2, you're at their mercy. I agree with the guy who stated that the playoffs should be expanded to include all 5 conference champs and 3 selected by computer using strength of schedule, quality wins, close loses and take the subjectivity out of it.

It’s not wrong to use the “eye test”, but it should only be used as a last resort when all other metrics fail to differentiate.

Conf Champ?

1st criterion should always be conference championship. A conference championship gets you in.

Of all the criteria that follow it should be a committee vote. I expect each committee member to to have their own criteria to place the four team playoff team. That's fine. But in order to get into the playoffs, conference championship needs to be removed from the list of criteria...taken out of the committee's hands.

The reason conference championship does not happen is because of Notre Dame.

To solve the Notre Dame problem (or the BYU problem) require that all independents finish their regular season undefeated. An undefeated season by an independent is a ticket to the playoffs but not a guarantee. Just like a conference championship would/should be a ticket to the playoffs but not a guarantee.

I agree with what he says, but the playoffs are heavily influenced by ratings, ratings, ratings. There is NO way that the gophers or bears make it to the CFP. None. Too much money at stake.

no exceptions

We will find out what they were looking for...AFTER the final announcement in December. And that is horseshite. They should be transparent and lay out what they are judging the teams on. And all of this "well the committee changes from year to year" bullshite needs to go also. Have some set criterion. Go by that criteria. Very simple concept.

The football committee has morphed into the basketball committee. It's all a popularity contest designed to protect blue bloods and Disney/ESPN/ABC

Totally on point.

At this point, if Minnesota goes 12-1 with their only loss to Ohio St in the big ten championship game, do they get in over Alabama?

I think it is safe to assume that LSU, Ohio State and Clemson are all in, while Ohio St. has some tough games and we do too, I just don't see either team losing. Right?

....people will come to realize the original BCS wasn’t that bad.

We got BCS 2.0 because:

1) a West Coast team bitched—their argument being OK didn’t win their conference championship (so explain 2011 LOL). It had nothing to do with winning the conference and everything to do with brand and the political strength of that brand.

2) the OBJECTIVE computers—regardless of the complicated algorithms didn’t allow emotion or “the eye test” to become the story, this it made all those ‘important’ sports writers and AP voters irrelevant.....and eventually would have limited their need; especially, at a lucrative salary.

The BCS 1.0 was the original Honey Badger

BCS could have been retained—and simply allowed the top 4 to make up the playoff teams.
