forced participation in another classroom in lieu of suspension is understandable

So most here want to send them home to their parents who raised the little shits? At least at school they can see counselors or the behavioral interventionists (BI's) who will at least attempt to help them.
Also, they aren't just going to keep them in the class when they are disruptive, most schools remove the kids from the class and have them see the BI's.

That massive economy won’t run for long without water and power from the other 49 states.

Because having them in the class when they are defiant fricks the other 20+ kids in that class.
But they’re not in class. They’re pulled out of class and instead have an in-school suspension.

They tried a form of this in Miami a while back. That’s how Trayvon Martin found himself sent to his dad’s place in Sanford, FL, outside of Orlando, rather than being in juvie for burglary.
Impacted the Parkland shooting as well correct?

The needs of the kids who choose to be complete assholes, at the expense of the kids who are actually trying to learn. I can attest that Louisiana is moving in this direction, as well. Every year it becomes more and more difficult to get any consequences without doing an insane amount of paperwork and phone calls. They are trying to effectively eliminate punishment by making it so time consuming to document by the teachers that it's not even worth the time.

Ok then. If they don’t work, how do you fix the problem? Because having them in the class when they are defiant fricks the other 20+ kids in that class.
Teachers seem to think there are better ways...

The California Teachers Association said teachers agree that suspensions are not necessarily the most effective approach and should be used as a last resort, adding in part, educators believe districts must provide funding and resources to implement the program as well as alternative discipline programs.

Your economy wouldn’t be nearly as massive anymore if that happened.

Let me ask the OT a question. When you were in school, what would have been your punishment if you brought cigarettes to school and gave them to other students?

Soon enough they’ll just ban the criminal justice system. Then we will have.....SNAKE PLISKIN.

I don’t remember exactly on Parkland.
Trayvon was clearly a case of Miami-Dade gaming the system by trying to cut down on minority “contacts” with the justice system.
I think Parkland was a case of no one wanting to follow through when everyone kept clearly raising flags on that kid as being armed and unstable.

Suspensions don't really work though. There should be repercussions, but not in the form of suspension. All you're doing is taking a problem child and making them worse.
I don't care if they put them on garbage detail cleaning up the school. Just get them out of the classroom and let kids trying to learn continue. It also gets them away from the swing kids who would easily be influenced in either direction, which gives more kids a chance.

Yes it does. It absolutely works. You see, it takes the shite student... and takes them out of the classroom.
This gives the good students a chance to learn uninterrupted.

Any sort of punishment for anyone for anything is racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and bigoted. All prisons in California should be burned down, and all crimes should be decriminalized.

I'll wait for a few more responses before I tell you what happened at my school last week.

Sounds like their solution is just more money.

All that being said, us Californians would love to secede. Please call your representatives and request that our massive economy be booted from your country.
I’ll just walk across the border to the new California republic and take what I want when I need it. Then, before I return home, I’ll pull my pants down and become a true Californian by shitting on the sidewalk.
