Stop paying people to breed and you solve most of the worlds' problems.

Shitty parents ruin everything. There should be testing required to have kids.

Nothing. Parents are probably worthless welfare queens or never home to parent the kid anyways. It allows the class to run smoothly in the kid's absence, but nothing changes.

Expelling the kid just keeps the cycle going so his kid will be doing the same in class in 20 years.

There's a balance of needing to educate our youth but keeping disruptive kids away. I don't know if this necessarily achieves that, but something will have to.

SO they violate the rights of every other student in the classroom to placate the kids who are the PROBLEM?

There are BRILLIANT young minority children TRAPPED in the inner-cities because white-guilt caves to black-privilege.

It's a bastardized form of slavery.

First question, makes their parents deal with them instead of the school. Second question, usually nothing changes because their parents can't do anything with them either. When I make phone calls to parents about student behavior, the vast majority of them are either apathetic, resentful towards me for calling them, defend their child's behavior no matter the situation, or openly admit that the child is the same way at home, and they don't have a solution.

In most cases yes. It too easily disrupts the delicate family balance of planning and getting kids to and from places. Kids that get bussed, go to after school programs, have both parents working fit into this. It makes logistically sense on some levels.

Are you being sarcastic? Isn’t that the point of before or after school Detention? To make parents correct the behaviors?

Shouldn't the responsibility be on the parents not the school? People here always complain about parents who expect schools to do their job for them, but when a state says "we aren't going to do that anymore," we all flip out because California.

Making it an in school suspension absolutely takes it away from the parent and puts the parenting responsibility on the school

It doesn't make them do that, and you detailed exactly why in the following statements.

I assume you're a teacher or in education in some way? I don't envy you because of this exact scenario. Lack of parental responsibility has to just be miserable.

They either learn the lesson and get their shite together, or you expel them permanently.

Problem solved.

Not being sarcastic. Parents will claim they have no transportation or work interference to school board, school board will tell the school that they can't use that punishment.

So basically the school board completely neuters their teachers ability to maintain discipline

i'm sure all the good kids' parents are just going to tolerate it and definitely not take their good kids elsewhere.

A ban on home/private schools will be next.

Our local district in Zachary won't suspend students unless they commit a crime on campus until after the State finishes the ranking stats. That plays into where you are ranked. Its horse shite.

I don't think it's a cut and dry as that. Especially when you consider the impact it may have on society in 40 years. Responsible members of society will have even more tax dollars to fund more highly populated prisons or more mouths at the welfare teat.

Ahhh, brilliant.

Further removing discipline from the classrooms and asking the underpaid, poorly motivated, powerless teachers to rather try persuading / talking to / understanding the troublemakers underlying feelings rather than instilling repercussions for poor behavior.

That’s sure to work and provide a conducive learning environment for the other students!

With the kids we're talking about, that is already going to happen anyway. Fixing that sinking ship sailed many years ago.

Might as well cut sling as early as possible and not waste the time and resources, at least not any more than we'll already have to in the future.
