It’s crowded because so many of the beaches west of Destin have no swim orders and what not due to high water from the Mississippi River and the consequences of all that freshwater.

Nah. Unless something has changed in the last few days, the water issue is only a concern as far east a Bay St. Louis. And it's not a high water issue, it's a algae bloom issue.

We moved from 30A to Miramar Beach and don’t regret it one bit. So many more ways in and out and plenty more food and grocery options.

The traffic got so bad we didn’t even go in June or July.

Now that I know what 30A is, I’m glad it’s a thing. It keeps it confined, and I know what to avoid.

I would think that area still has a long way to go with its recovery from Hurricane Michael.

I'm sure you would never skip going to your vacation home Malibu to hit up 30A.

The high water on the Mississippi is causing the algae bloom

Yes, although Apalachicola and St. George Island aren't so bad off. Love this part of FL, but it is a bitch to get to. I guess that is what keeps it the way it is.

Just got back from the Gulf Coast and I have no idea what you're talking about. People were swimming everyday. Granted, the current was strong (red flag a few days and a yellow flag when we left). But aside from that, people were swimming.

Except for perhaps the Keys, Florida is not a draw for me.

Orange Beach is fine. Don't listen to him. Just got back. It's the fricking beach.

My question to you is will you be at work? Will you be stuck in Baton Rouge (or wherever you live)? No? Ok then, beach it is.

I've had my last beach trip to Destin. I'm looking for a more relaxing week for the fam and I. Takes me a day to recover from the drive over. Sounds like 30A is out. Maybe it's time for a destination beach trip.
