LSU coach Jay Johnson spoke with reporters on Wednesday and provided a positive update on right-handed pitcher Chase Shores, who missed all of the 2024 season after recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Johnson said that Shores looks great and was throwing 98 mph the other day. He also said his slider is improving.

Shores, a redshirt freshman from Midland, Texas, appeared in seven games last year as a weekend starter and primary reliever before injuring his elbow on March 31. He underwent surgery in April of 2023.

Lots of players play on year. Would you rather have someone with less ability for longer?
