30A was cool last year. Holly beach is the new 30A, very exclusive.

All gulf coast beaches are out of control. Staying for a week on any beach is absurdly expensive. I feel like it didn’t use to be this way.

Grayton is not packed. Never has been. Especially with the red bar not there.

Went eat dinner at the beer pub one night and was commenting to my wife about how it seemed more laid back. Probably gonna stay there next year.

I wouldn’t stay anywhere else on 30a although that’s bc of sentimental value. Have family who has been going to grayton every year for over 60 years.

Went a couple years ago with some friends and said never again like that. We were only there 3 nights, but between the condo/fees (and we didn’t even get one of the higher prices ones), dinner out, groceries, alcohol, gas, etc. we spent nearly $1500. We spend that on two plane tickets + hotel + restaurant/bar tabs in cities like Chicago.

Not to say I’ll never go to the beach again, but not going with other people like that.

Drove home yesterday and Moffitt Road was bumper to bumper from Semmes, AL to where it goes to 4 lane. Mostly Texas license plates it seemed. Glad we got out of there before the invasion for 4th of July.

People who spend 4 grand to go to the beach and then spend like an hour max a day actually out on the beach not even getting in the water crack me up

Not saying you do this btw

I'm going to Navarre beach the beginning of August. Staying along 399 on the barrier island. Found a condo right beside the dead zone between Navarre and Pensacola. Looks like a quiet place. It was like $1200 for a week in a studio condo.

We went to sandestin for 2 weeks last summer and $1,500 was the cost to rent my beach chairs for 15 days

I will say I take full advantage. I get out there when I get up and stay out there until dinner.

Idk, it’s just not my ideal vacation I guess. I’m unmarried without kids and I don’t get up for work at 6am like so many people do. So it’s a difficult trip to do with others because you’re stuck on their schedule.

I get that. I’ve had friends that came on our family beach trips that were bored to tears while I was on the beach for 8 hours

Headed back from the beach house now. We're lucky enough that my FIL has a compound on the beach. We took another couple and we all just either did our own thing when someone was beached out / pooled out or we hung out together. At the beach, time on the deck, or time at the pool. The nice part is no-one was tied to the other. I assume it's harder to do it that way in a condo or having to golf cart to a public access.
