I suspect they offer an express route from Dallas to Shreveport too.

Makes sense, but it was my one and only time. I just walked up to the counter a requested a ticket to Shreveport.

Each of the stops took 30-45 minute load/unload/smoke breaks on my trip.

Used to ride from San Antonio to Austin when I was stationed at Ft Sam. Was a decent ride, except the bus stopped at every cross roads. I read the entire book "Godfather" on one return trip.

When I was at Ft. Lewis, we would take the bus to Seattle from Tacoma.

Would fly from San Antonino to Dallas during the Braniff Airlines days. They had a shuttle than ran each way at two hour intervals. The stewardesses all wore Hot Pants and Nancy Sinatra style long black boots. Was an interesting flight.

I have also ridden in a cattle carrier in the military. Also long trips in the back of a Deuce and a Half. Bus and Braniff are both better.

Rode it in the early 90's from Atlanta to Tuscaloosa. Friend and I got in a car accident in Atlanta and his car wasn't safe to drive that distance back home. His dad was pissed at him because he didn't tell him we were going to Atlanta and told him to figure out how to get home. My parents were out of town, so Greyhound it was.

Bus was pretty crowded, but a nice old black lady gave up her seat to us so we could sit together. We bought her a Coke when we stopped in Bham and you'd have thought we bought her a new house she was so appreciative.

My mom use to load me and my brother on a greyhound bus ( NO) to Cape canaveral to watch the blast off Gemini and Apollo spacecrafts. 16 hours of living hell. Great memories.

Cool story!!! Can you estimate how many launches (of each) you saw?

Having seen about ~11 space shuttle launches (and probably 8-10 additional 'scrubs')… how often did you return home empty-handed?

Sixteen hours isn't bad at all for that drive, via bus in the 1960s. Was it Trailways or Greyhound?

The people that ride the Greyhound are those that basically can’t afford to rent a car. Or have a friend that can drive them. Or use anything else but the last possible way to get there.
That's partly true, but it all depends on the value of $$ to you, and to me, and to them. I have priced these trips a number of times, and if you are looking at $60 for the rental-car and $125 for the one-way charge and $45 for fuel and $25 more in taxes/fees/new-retractable-roof-stadium-charge..
vs. $29 (or $17 or $ 38) for a MegaBus, that's a pretty big difference.

In 2000 from Birmingham to NYC round trip.

It took about 24 hours each way. The stops are killer. The greatest excitement was one lady smoking crack in the bathroom. The driver was having none of that.

That following Monday I got on a grey hound where President Kennedy was shot in Dallas. So that was kind of cool.

Yep, Greyhound and Continental Trailways. Also Amtrak a few times. Kind of preferred the train since they ran through more rural settings for much of the journey.

Rode from MCRD to Shreveport when they kicked me out of boot camp.

Spent the night in the Phoenix bus station. It was a pretty crusty experience.

Did it for the first time back home from college, Christmas break.

24hours. Wasnt to bad other than little things like certain people, and getting stuck in the aisle closer to the bathroom at night. Hard to sleep.

I told my parents I wont be coming back if I have to do that again. My mom agreed since she didn't care to go back to the greyhound station in downtown dallas in the middle of the night to pick me up.

The Amtrak that goes to Chicago, and all points between passes a block from my house alongside the Pontchartrain Expressway. I've ridden that train up to and back from Jackson, Miss. several times back in the 70's and loved the ride and scenery.

Was going to State College, PA and it was $1000 cheaper to fly to PHL and take a Megbus. Wifi, nice bus, no issues. Trip was $49 r/t

I knew someone who had something shipped on a greyhound they forgot at home. Had a friend drop it off at a station and arrived the next morning. No way I thought it would be there, but it did.

Pretty sure it was not Greyhound, but when I was 15 I spent a summer with family in Atlantic City. One day my aunt takes me to NYC via a bus. We get there and she decides she is going to stay and ships me back on bus. I made it, everything was fine, but it was an awlful trip with some shady passengers who felt inclined to want to talk to me.

Yep. Had to take it a few years ago actually. Had a suspended license and didn't want to risk driving that far in state before it was settled. Was the best option and it honestly wasn't that bad because the girl beside me on part of the trip had a low cut top and no bra on and seemed to give no shits that her tits were showing the whole ride. I'm sure she was a super slut but they were nice tits..so I was cool with it

Rode on Continental Trailways with my mom and siblings twice from Baton Rouge to Los Angeles in the 60's. Also once to Colorado Springs in 73. Had a blast as I was a kid and it was an adventure for me. This was before the airlines were deregulated and we were poors.

Took Amtrak from McComb, MS to Chanute AFB in 77. It was ok but the train rocked the whole way.

Agreed on the scenery via train. I'm sure y'all will say "whatever".. but seeing the sights from a route as simple as Houston to New Orleans (or Lafayette) is pretty cool. You really do get a new perspective.

Oh and the leg-room on Amtrak is ridiculously awesome!

Seeing the Greyhound Terminal in Houston makes me want to puke. The MegaBus Lot is close by and seeing the patrons waiting in line is certainly a site to see. Now Houston has a new entry called FlixBus, out curiosity I checked for a one way ticket during the week at offtimes. MegaBus was $14.99 from Houston to NO, FlixBus was $4.99... lmao
