Ah the ole sanctimonious morality argument. Never mind the morality issue of forcing rape victims to bear a child. Or forcing a young mother into raising a child because she made a mistake at age 14 or even 18.

We could go back and forth on that subject all day. But I don’t have the time or the patience. We will never agree with one another so no point in debating.

Yes

And in many cases, hypocritical.

The bill's sponsor flat out admitted this is what the bill was for.

The fact that some of you really think you believe all life is sacred is simplistic. The anti-abortion morons are also pro death penalty.

There is a very large difference between an unborn baby who hasn't had a chance to live their life and a crazed murderer who has taken the lives of other people in violent manners.

The latter actually sounds like a doctor at an abortion clinic tbh.

I wonder if abortion is an actual pressing problem in america, or if they're just using an inflammatory topic to lead sheep to the pasture?

Most of these idiots are the same ones who say “if you’d just do what the police say then they won’t kill you.”

And advocate war on Islam. And believe you have every right to protect your family through owning and carrying a weapon.

Keep in mind I agree with a lot of them on various issues. But to pretend they believe all life is sacred is ridiculous.

There should absolutely be no difference for the person who pretends to believe “all life is sacred”.

It's not. The number of abortions performed per year has been going down for 20-30 years. But they've been fighting this fight for that same amount of time, and now have the courts stacked with conservative judges so figure now's the time to really challenge Roe V. Wade.

I’m from the south. I know plenty, trust me. Most cite religious reasons which is ridiculous in its own right.

Or the legal implications that extend beyond abortion.

Do we now need to start child support at the point a fetal heartbeat is recognized? It’s now a protected life that has rights per some of these laws being passed, even very early in conception.

Once there’s a fetal heartbeat does that mean it’s a protected life and we cannot longer deport the mother (becomes an anchor baby)?

It is if you believe killing an unborn child is murder.

How is this hypocritical?

You can hold the belief that all life is sacred while also holding a belief that certain people forfeit their right to live based on the actions they perform that negatively affect the lives of others.

If a cop detains you and you act belligerent, fight, and reach for a weapon, you will be shot.

If you are a terrorist murderer, the sacrifice of your life in order to save the people you terrorize is in the interest of greater good.

And just bc abortion has utilitarian value doesn’t make it moral.

My only hang up is medical necessity. If "conception" is the starting point, what happens to a an ectopic pregnancy, where the embryo implants in the fallopian tube. Very much a danger to the life of the mother and there is no way for the pregnancy to go to term. Any intervention to save the mother can be construed as terminating a pregnancy. Under the extreme religious version of the pro life stance, that would not be legal.

I have a moral opposition to abortion. But can't quite get to the far end of it where if an egg is fertilized, end of story, no other way to look at it type of mentality. I guess my point is morality isn't as fine a line as some people think it is.....in any situation, not just abortion.

Why? This is a very silly opinion to hold.

A man who guns down an innocent family has to pay his debt to society.
