I just don’t think that using the “incest and rape” excuse is good enough considering it only accounts for a small amount of abortions.

Which is why you had people asking why this small amount can't have exceptions made

But what would I expect from morally inept assholes.

Says the guy telling people incest and rape aren't good enough excuses

Get off your high horse

I didn’t say you did, in fact my exact post says that it gives the impression that pro life advocates care about a child up until the moment of birth and not a second after. Sounds like you’re not disagreeing

Are those programs the only way one can care about low income single mothers? I sincerely doubt it.

No. If the government is going to force women to take a child to full term, they should force the men who oppose abortion to adopt the child of an unwanted pregnancy. Force vs force. Problem solved.

At what point is it a baby then?

I'd be good going back to the British Common Law standard of the cutoff point being the quickening - the point the mother can feel the fetus's movements. The problem with that is that point is different for every mother, so maybe taking the average point. The usual moment is 2-3 months.

When I've been closely following the bill since it was first brought to the floor. I'd say me not hearing about a vote, means said vote likely didn't happen.

I’m glad everything is so peachy keen in Alabama that you’ve solved all your local and state problems and can now focus on trying to overturn SCOTUS decisions.

There is plenty of shite for our politicians to be worrying about. But that doesn't mean this isn't a good thing to do.

I don't see the issue with letting states decide for themselves.

Except the state populous didn’t vote, so your “not seeing an issue” is pretty senseless.

The state populous didn’t vote for their representatives? Boy Bama sure has changed since I left.

No, they didn't. The populace probably did though.

I’m pretty sure Alabamians have given up hope of being a state worth living in, but to say this type of issue shouldn’t be taken to the polls (ya know, like everything else) is dumb. But go ahead and stay dead last in just about every statistic known to society.

More than a quarter of your state’s children live in poverty and rank second highest in infant mortality. What kind of maternity or family leave laws exist in the state?

Do you understand how our country operates? We are a republic, not a democracy.

First, not everything is taken to the polls. We elect legislators to make laws.

Second, there was a constitutional amendment on the 2018 ballot that dealt with abortion. It passed with over 60% of the vote. It wasn't the same thing as this current bill, but as someone that has lived most of my life in Alabama, I can confidently say the majority of Alabamians are pro-life. That's certainly not saying a whole lot though, because I can also say the majority of voters in this state are incredibly ignorant and self-defeating, but I digress.

Ya, I don't get all the people saying this was done against the citizen's wishes.

I mean it's Alabama FFS.
