Surprisingly you are right.....it has taken a turn for the worst in the last 10-15 years for sure.

I guess that's what having a booming economy does for you.

ETA I just walk around the place like I'm better than every trashy MF'er there and they well know it.....my daughter loved the place and seeing her that happy was worth any price and having to deal with some trash temporarily. Although I'll say this any self respecting person will never stay in a "value" resort that's for sure.

Disney used to let anyone with a scooter, and everyone with that person, cut all the lines. They've put a stop to a lot of that. So now it's really just the people who can't walk who use them. It used to be a LOT worse.

As long as the people in the scooters and their 17 family members with them don't get special privileges like line cutting, whatever, it doesn't bother me.

But, as in grocery stores, the morbidly obese are their best customers! They still have to pay to get in, but they are too disgusting to fit on any of the rides! They also have no problem spending $20 on 3oz of cotton candy.

Pro tip: call a cab to pick you up at the resort and drop you off. Not expensive and quick.

Disney has Minnie Van service now through Lyft. It works through the Lyft app. It's been a life saver on our last 2 trips.

Whenever we go, we leave the room 20 min after we wake up and don't get back to the room until at least 10-11 pm, where we take showers/baths and go to sleep. That's it. The only thing we use the hotel room for is sleeping, showering, and getting dressed.

Why would I pay 2-4 times the cost of a value room when I'm not getting anything more out of it? I'd rather spend the money on meals, experiences in the park, tours, etc.

Most of those people look like they can't physically walk long distances. Maybe it's their own "fault" but I also don't want to see 50 fatties a day dropping out and having my kids constantly watching EMS work on them.

I have just as big of an issue with the doctors that tell people they need to diet and exercise while also hooking them up with a handicap parking sign so they don’t have to walk.

I don't love it, but it's a trip for the kids. We had a blast just watching them have a blast. But once is definitely enough. I'll be happy never setting foot at that place again.

That's how I feel about it. I'll go; I'll also try to have a good time. We've brought the kids twice. There may be one more trip in the future. But if given the choice between a week at Disney or a week in the mountains, you bet your arse the mountains would win every time.

It just depends. If you have smaller children then you may spend more time at the hotel in the pool or just taking breaks. The moderates and deluxes are much better for this. Also, Contemporary and Polynesian are great for being able to hop on the monorail. Poly is particularly great because you also have the walking path to ticket and transportation to catch the Epcot monorail or Magic Kingdom ferry. If you're going with older kids/teenagers then the value resorts may be ok. However, those bus stops are notorious melting spots for kids because they get packed as frick. Sometimes needing 3-4 buses to clear the bus stop. That's where the Minnie Van service is clutch.

The bottom line is you can do Disney without losing your mind but you have to go in understanding that you're going to be surrounded by assholes with no regard for manners or common courtesy.

TLDR CSB below

I have a good friend who's child (8) is wheelchair bound. Said child is a huge Star Wars fan. When they were walking towards Star Tours he saw the Jedi Training Academy and wanted to participate. One of the cast members overheard and signed him up and asked they family if they were about to ride Star Tours. When they said yes, the cast member asked for them to follow her and that she'd escort the family. This kid is adamant on not being treated any differently so they said no thanks and that they would wait in line like everyone else. This cast member insisted and they eventually followed her. On the walk up to the line the dad noticed something was a little different as they took a different turn from a wheelchair person in front of them. They get to a side room and out walks Darth Vader. The kid is blown away. For the next 10+ minutes the family had a private meet and greet. This is why I have no problem spending money on Disney.

Reason # 178 to not visit the “Magic” Kingdom.

Upvoted on the OP and, as when someone says they’re “around 30 lbs over”, they’re usually about 60 lbs over.

Better address that or you can get the sugar or catch a heart attack and that’s no fun.

Yeah, in all of our planning nobody gave us a head's up on the scooters or the rude people that would stop in the middle of the sidewalk to pull their map or phone out to figure out where they wanted to go. Also wasn't prepared for the stroller parking lots. That blew my mind the first day when I had to park it near Dumbo. There were hundreds of them lined up.

That’s nuts that someone can be that blatantly self centered. Maybe it’s because I don’t like it here, maybe it’s because I see this place as a microcosm of America. I should probably just relax and quit worrying about Disney’s issues. My kids enjoy it.

Last year, I broke my leg pretty severely. When grocery shopping, I got one of those a few times because although I could crutch around the store, I couldn't do it while holding groceries. Even then, I felt like a total loser. It was shameful to be seen in those scooters.

And I'm skinny as a string bean. Well, a string bean with a slight gut.
