Enders Game - in the top 5 for the worst and most stupid movie ever

been seeing this trash showing on a few channels this week
man that has to be the most stupid movie ever
then at the end where they finally save human kind from the invading hordes of aliens, that SJW idiot decides to be a traitor to human kind and sneak off to save the sole alien survivors of a species hell bent on ending our existence so they can live to come back in the future and wipe out humanity forever, all because "feels" and guilt over killing the enemy and shite.
yes its just a movie, but i cant help but to think watching that stupidity, that that is the perfect example of how dangerous liberal thinking idiots are to our future
the movie, not the book. as i understand it, the book is good and tells a much different story then what the movie represents

Were they hell bent on destroying humanity, or did you miss the entire point of the story?
But yeah, I've been told it was a poor adaptation. I unfortunately never got around to reading the novel.

Loved that book and I actually liked the movie also. I know I’m in the minority on that though

Just Bc you didn’t like it doesn’t mean you have to spoil the movies for others....dick

2nd worst movie ever made behind The Last Airbender.

Also, the book is the kind you had to read as a kid.

that's not even close to describing what happened

Loved the book when I was a kid. A series would have made for a better adaptation. Not nearly enough time to cover everything in a single film.

You realize the book came out decades before that was even a term right? Hell, I think the movie came out before the term became so widespread.
Love the book, hate the movie.

it was a borderline criminal adaptation of a great book. worse than dune, honestly. at least i can watch dune for the camp factor.

Went to see it at the movies with much anticipation and was very disappointed. Harrison Ford was wooden and just went through the motions, and I even thought he was miscast. It had an interesting premise, but the makers of the movie did not do the material due justice, imho.
I will say this: Ender's Game was much, much better than The Fifth Wave, another movie I was eager to see and sorely disappointed by. That was complete crap and no better than some made for t.v. movie one could have watched in the 1990's.

Ughh. Pay attention. You don't even need the book. The bugs had been trying to communicate with us but we didn't understand it. They tried to communicate with Ender and he didn't understand until it was too late. They never came back to Earth. They looked like they were about to launch a massive assault because the whole human space force was bearing down on them.
They did a decent job with that movie.

I was a huge fan of the book.
I thought the movie was average. I didn’t think it was terrible. I knew going in that it would be hard to adapt to the screen. Some novels just don’t translate well to film. This is one of them.
The problem with Ender is that he represents so many different things to different people, and it’s hard to satisfy any one particular audience with him. For example, a lot of the frustrations with the book sequels to Ender’s Game is that Ender doesn’t act the way many people want him to act, and the stories don’t develop in a way that satisfies the masses.
Movies are made to satisfy the masses. And Ender as a character doesn’t quite fit that mold.

Get yourself some help and step away from politics for a little while. This is some crazy arse thinking.

As I'm sure others have mentioned, the movie didn't do the source material justice. You have to understand, the Formics did not originally see the humans as sentient beings. Because of the structure of their society, and how they communicated, they couldn't understand that humans were individuals, not drones. They didn't understand that the death of each human was analogous to the death of one of their queens.
The Formic Queen, in the novel, conveys to Ender “We did not mean to murder, and when we understood, we never came again.” During the final battle, the queen laments “They did not forgive us, she thought. We will surely die.”
Ender was responsible for the murder of an entire race. Once he understood that the Formics regretted their actions, he knew he couldn't let the species die. In later novels, Ender looks for a home for the Formic queen, so that the species doesn't die out.

The book is ten times better.
I still can't fathom why they ruined the "big reveal" by telling you up front.
In the book, Ender thinks all of the space combat missions he's running through are training simulations. They get progressively harder and harder, forcing him to learn new tactics, build a strong team of fellow trainees, and think completely outside the box. It's a form of the "Kobiashi Maru" from Star Trek. An unwinnable situation that he figures out how to win.
The big reveal at the end, that instead of a simulation, he's been directing real troops through actual battles. He has sacrificed thousands of human lives to win the final battle and completely destroy the "Bugs". And has caused the complete extinction of the only other known intelligent living species in the galaxy.
He is crushed by this realization. He was tricked.
He also finds out that in fact the aliens were the victims in the war. The humans had started it.
It's one of the best sci-fi novels I've ever read.
The movie shite all over it. Thanks Hollywood. Once again you thought you knew better. How many Ender's Game and Ready Player One frick-ups have to happen before you realize that you don't have to change the plot of successful novels? Just tell the fricking story.

While I think the movie is a terrible adaptation of the book, I got a real kick out of the OP complaining about the "SJW idiot" given the career and beliefs of the author Orson Scott Card. And yes, Ender saves the alien in the book as well.
