Learn a lesson from this shutdown and do better financially. Live within your means and build up emergency funds in case you have to pay your bills during another shutdown in the future. You chose this career path so with the perks come the drawbacks, be prepared for the unexpected.

I am sorry that your paycheck will be delayed but take some personal responsibility for your own situation.

they need to call their congressional reps and tell them to toss in the measly $5 billion for the wall and move on

I know this is not popular, but I think every single government employee should be furloughed one week per month until a budget surplus is produced.

Technically they won't be missing a paycheck. That paycheck just will be late.

Who died and made you Dave Ramsey? Stop viewing the world through the narrow lens of your circumstance and understand that there are some people in different circumstances than you. I’m prepared to absorb missing a few checks, but I’ll also understand that there are others who can’t go as far as I can. Do I look down on them and lecture them on a college football message board? No. Only a really insecure person would do that.

I understand this very well. I just don't care.

It’s not popular because it’s kinda stupid.

Yeah, I'm not going there. Suddenly being w/o a paycheck would be unsettling for most folks. People at the TSA level aren't drawing big money in the first place. Should they live paycheck-to-paycheck? Of course not. Nonetheless, they are drawing a paycheck . . . or at least they were.

But we’re still supposed to take your view seriously? Makes sense.

As of now, 8 "non-esdential" (that's gotta make you feel good) government employees downvote thee.

Or, 8 "I gotta live like the Joneses"

ETA: WOW! I'm behind the times. It's 10! 10! Good grief

They still are. They just won't get that check today. They'll receive full back pay when the shutdown is over. Just like every other shutdown.

I’m “esdential” as you put it, and I downvoted.

I know in my circumstance, if I was furloughed from my job, I would not get paid. You and all the other government workers will get guaranteed back pay. Cry me a river.
