I understand this very well. I just don't care.

At least you've admitted that you're a prick. Now, you can either fix it, or graduate to "Dick" status.

Learn a lesson from this shutdown and do better financially. Live within your means and build up emergency funds in case you have to pay your bills during another shutdown in the future. You chose this career path so with the perks come the drawbacks, be prepared for the unexpected.

I am sorry that your paycheck will be delayed but take some personal responsibility for your own situation.

I don't know what makes you think that

do not already do any or all of these things. You can go frick yourself with your sweeping generalizations.

I am trying. If I do end up getting paid I guess it will be OK, but I would ACTUALLY RATHER BE AT WORK. I've got shite due and work piling up. MANY within the Govt take their jobs seriously and do their best to run efficient and effective offices, it's called having pride in one's self. Just because the govt is shut down does not mean all our "customers" (the regulated community, the States) are shut down.

I've got multi-Billion dollar projects waiting on my review and approval and not one damn person is gonna want to hear about the shut down when I'm scrambling to complete my review on time.

You caught a downvote saying you want to work. Just think on that for a second.

More are affected than just government contractors. People are waiting on Govt. for many things.

All FAA training except for actual on the job training has stopped. We had two young people called back from OKC in the middle of their radar class. We have a young guy ready for tower certification. If that happens, there will be no one working to process his authorization so he won’t be able to work the position he’s certified on. We have a new supervisor who is hung up on his transfer due to this. We have a guy who’s supposed to transfer to Cleveland Center. That don’t happen until this is resolved. We have several who were supposed to take a required OJTI instructor course next week. That’s canceled. Don’t even think we could retire. No one to process the papers. Haha.

Who died and made you Dave Ramsey? Stop viewing the world through the narrow lens of your circumstance and understand that there are some people in different circumstances than you. I’m prepared to absorb missing a few checks, but I’ll also understand that there are others who can’t go as far as I can. Do I look down on them and lecture them on a college football message board? No. Only a really insecure person would do that.

You seem angry.

If you are a contract worker in ANY industry and don't have savings for three months w/o pay, you should not be a contract worker.

No one cares if you complain about missing a check. We don't sympathize is what we are saying.

If you aren't smart enough to have savings set aside, then go get a credit card with a 10K balance and live off that.

Why don't you guys borrow from your 401K and then pay yourself back? There is no penalty for what, 6 mo or a year, right?
