I once had a job offer to work for the government, I turned it down and I'm glad I did.

Technically they won't be missing a paycheck. That paycheck just will be late.

Except for contractors. They're just SOL if their contract doesn't have funding.

I’m “esdential” as you put it, and I downvoted.

Then by all means feel free to eliminate yourself from the feeling that you feel right now. Thank you for your essentiality. Your essentialness is deeply appreciated. But I also bet you save your money. Maybe that's a difference between a non-essential and essential government employee. Essential employees might be more responsible?

No, you're getting all butthurt about my point of view. I'm telling you no matter how much your vagina weeps about it, it's not going to change my point of view.

Right.
Except, as this drags on, it could be quite a while coming.

You’re the one lecturing people on their finances and how they should be completely okay and not complain about not getting paid on time. Since you’re the expert, how long should I be able to sustain a deferment in my pay?

I am sorry that your paycheck will be delayed but take some personal responsibility for your own situation.

Skip Bayless would be proud of a take this white hot.

You speak an inconvenient truth, thus the downvotes. Personal responsibility is almost unheard of today, but everyone's got rights. There is no right to a paycheck and how you budget your income is your responsibility. Unhappy with your government work?!?! The job market is booming, perhaps it's time for a career change. IF you've got the skills!

That and rural cities where the primary employer is a federal prison for example.

The economy in that city is severely impacted and those restaurants and other service industries won't make that money back.

Some of y'all are so selfish and short sighted.

Considering I was addressing the OP initially, but you felt the urge to add your two cents.... It seems that you are the weeping vag.

I'd be honestly surprised if there were any contractors that also didn't get back pay. Congress isn't going to risk that backlash.

Yeah so stupid for gov't employees and contractors to have a child during this period. They should have planned that out allot better..

I’ll ask you as well. As an essential federal employee, how long should I go with deferred payment and not complain?

I’m conservative as well and want a border wall, but I expect to get paid for services rendered.

If you think that was a lecture, you really do have thin skin. Everyone should save 15 to 30% of their gross annual income for every reason, to include short-term loss of Revenue, investment opportunities that come along, short-term purchase needs, debt elimination, retirement savings, vacation savings, Christmas Club savings, taking the whole family to Disney World, Etc. Or have that credit card that Dave Ramsey doesn't like and use it in a time of need. A short-term loan. Like everyday Ordinary People do who care about others give of their money and their time to others. Just don't think about themselves all the time. Sorry. I don't need to be lecturing.

Contractors have NEVER gotten back pay for shutdowns. Contractors don't work during shutdowns so they have no legal claim to be paid. It won't happen this time either.

Considering contractors get paid for hours worked and billed for services rendered, I don't see how that could possibly work.
