What the hell is up with my generation?
Ocasio-Cortez made news with it the other day but it’s certainly not the first I’ve heard of it.

Friend of mine from high school posted a few weeks ago about how she was taking an unexpected “self care day” after the Kavanaugh confirmation. Posted a picture of herself in pajamas and a cup of hot cocoa. Said she needed to relieve stress...she’s a librarian at a public library, which probably ranks right up there in terms of stress with a toll booth worker.

Where did self care days even come from? Seems way too specific to not have a definite origin.

Every company offers personal days. It just used to be where you didn’t see figs like your example using them to grandstand politically.

Life's too short to not take advantage of leave offered to you. You're not proving anything by missing out on time out of the office.

Yeah, but I don't call them that because I'm not a pussy. I call them "take a Friday off and play golf" days

Our company has a few days of PTO called ILCERN (I literally can't even right now). We're a very progressive company

I call them vacation days, and I use them for better shite than sitting in PJ's with hot cocoa.

Why? Other than “they disagree with me politically.”

It’s called PTO.

No, I go to work.

Granted, my company, I'm guessing like many, offers PTO that with pre-approval you can take for whatever reason you want.

Since I started my career about 16 or so years ago, I don't think i've ever taken a single day off "just cause." It was always because there was something specific I needed to do or take care of, or a sick day once or twice a year.

The hilarious part is that she only got elected 6 weeks ago and has yet to even be sworn in. At least we know she's a true socialist by her laziness and lack of ability to handle anything

Didn’t figure this from you. The whole “yeah I’m awesome because I deny PTO.”

Personal days are offered everywhere and you can take them for any reason. The only issue in the OP is that this lady was an attention whore douche.
