I take days off of work

No one needs to know why I am taking off. Could be sick or at the beach. No ones business.

I'm taking a week in may next year to go to florida for an immersive body paint conference. I've been looking forward to learning from some of the instructors for almost ten years, and I've told my coworkers that the only way I'm answering questions is if they show up on site to ask them. for once in the 5 years I've been here, frick them. I'm doing something for me.

Personal day, self care day, same thing. They are good ideas in theory.

I rarely feel like I need a personal day at any given time but I try to take them anyway. Burnout has an insidious onset and I have burned out on work.

I call a day off a "safety break." It is taken for my safety and the safety of those around me.

Republicans are so emotional that they will feign outrage over anything.

I don't have time for "self care" days. It's just not worth the amount of work I will have to catch up on when I get back.

If I take a day off, it's for a reason. I take one day off for horse shows (since we have to bring the horses to the show grounds, set up, school, etc) and the only other time is if my husband and I are going on a real vacation.

Maybe if I had tons of PTO I would here and there, but that's just not how I work.

I usually call them sick days and I only feel better after being in a duck blind or on the boat. I only get 12 vacation days a year, might as well use some of that sick time I am getting too.

No, I don't care about their political leanings. Taking sick days when not sick should not be encouraged.

And that's exactly what they want. Why pay for additional staffing when they know you'll get it done? Take your days and get the work done when you have time to do so. If shite falls behind, let them know why. If they still DGAF, then still take care of you the way they're taking care of themselves.
