Most people would and should be disgusted and would eliminate them from personal consideration.
People could be pro-choice for different personal reasons that no one would understand until you heard that person explain it to you. The first reason that comes to mind is rape. If someone is raped and gets pregnant it's not my call to say they should keep it or not.
I don't think my personal views should dictate to others what they can or can't do.
And I don't really care if a candidate is pro-life or pro-choice. In general, I am against abortion, but if a candidate isn't, that doesn't affect their ability to serve in the position they are running on.

Why can’t you keep your word? You deserved to be called out like the ratfink cripple bastard you are. You should find no safe space, no place where your misdeeds are not known.
Blast and damn ye!

If a candidate came out and said that they think "insert race/religion/sexual orientation here" should all be rounded up, placed in camps and/or euthanized, would you vote for them to be your representative?
So you're completely okay with the above mentioned scenario? Because that is what I was referencing in the piece of a quote you copied.
Also, I wouldn't classify a rape victim as an abortion of convenience, and I missed where I said that my personal views should be pushed on others.

Good for you. You asked if religious views affected political views, and I responded with MY personal opinion. Others are free to agree or disagree with it as they see fit. I will not apologize for voting for those who hold my beliefs and values, and while I have no doubt others may be fine civil servants, if we don't see eye to eye on the value of life than they cannot truly represent me or my interests.

Im an atheist, dont really give a frick about government in general, dont really give a frick about abortion but do agree with the facts that Freakonomics did put out. It may be morally wrong but more abortion = significant drop in crime.

The problem with the argument that Christians individually should take care of the poor, sick, etc is that is not how the Bible shows Israel was called. The idea was that the people of Israel as a tribe would be an example into the world. The idea that there would be different requirements for the people of Israel than for the nation of Israel is not something they would have recognized. They were one in the same.
It’s also interesting to me that people are mad about taking prayer out of school and the like because we are a “Christian nation” then don’t want us to act like that type of nation with the poor. Odd to me.

My political views will benefit me in the foreseeable future. My religious views will benefit me for eternity.
Hopefully.
Hopefully.

Most people in the south think Republican = Christian. And IMO, the two are very far apart.
Soooo, homosexuality, law breaking (illegally entering the country), and abortion are just a few Christian practices? Got it.
And yes, I'm a Christian so I'm pretty Conservative-Independent, and believe strongly in capitalism because history and stuff.
Funny thing about capitalism, China was a failing communist/socialist country in shambles. They incorporate Capitalism and now are the richest country in the world. Odd.

I’m sure there are some widows, orphans, etc. in the caravan. If they make it here Are you ready to comfort them?
No, because they will not be coming legally.
Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

There are a lot of people who base their vote around secondary issues. A lot of the Christians who vote Republican, will vote Republican no matter what simply because the Republican party is the "pro-life" party. And I think that is insane, considering there are a lot more important issues that should be considered.
And this is why the Republican politicians will NEVER get Roe V. Wade overturned. Making abortion illegal would be party suicide. They could lose a ton of voters who keep going to vote because they want to fight the good fight for all those dead babies. Those people wouldn't suddenly become liberal but I guarantee the numbers would drop drastically. For a lot of people it is the main reason they get out and vote Republican.

When you consider the stats, I think you can argue that there are times in which it can be responsible.

quote:Absolutely not. I take the Constitution seriously especially the first amendment. I love that we have the right to practice our own religion and there is a stated separation of church and state. The same protections for my right to my religion protects the rights of others to their religions. I do not believe in the right to force my beliefs on others or enforce my religious laws on others through the government.
Do Your Political Views Directly Reflect Your Religious Views?
Posted on 11/7/18 at 1:03 pm to cj35
My mom is a Catholic and a Democrat. So no, her religious views do not reflect her political views.
Posted on 11/7/18 at 1:04 pm to OweO
I belong to no religion and I belong to no political party.
Posted on 11/7/18 at 1:16 pm to SuperflyLSU
My point is this: why pick a topic that you know the candidate won’t change as your primary reason for voting that way? Pick something else.

But is she a current democrat or an "Old South" Democrat?

No, they don't.
As to the matter of pro-life or pro-choice; I think you can be pro-life but understand that it is government over-reach to legislate. Just my opinion.

Difference is, this is what YOU think. So, you vote based on what you think, your views, your wants and needs, the way that you think things will affect your life. Others do the same.

Current. She's pretty far left. Pro-Choice, Pro LGBTQ the whole 9 yards.
ETA: My dad is too, but he's not really religious. Grew up Catholic, but does not go to mass.

Then these people do not understand what overturning Roe does. It does NOT outlaw abortion. It merely reverts back to a states' rights issue. So, for those who are so against abortion, overturning Roe may actually serve their purposes better.
