Unless you're a college kid shouldn't you be prepared to spend at least 500 a day on South Beach for lodging crap?
Unless you are staying at America's Best Value Inn.
I get beach access should be a given but a few bucks to keep tards away? I'm not sweating it.
Yeah, it depends on time of year Dec-March is the high season) the type of hotel (Delano, Sagamore, SLS can run $300-$1000 for a regular room while a best western is about $250) weekday/weekend, etc. But yeah, $500 a day on lodging, amenities, food and a few drinks is about right per day/night.
I go down to SOBE a couple of times a month. Usually uber, so I dont have to park or drive after drinking and it's not far from where I live, straight shot down collins Avenue. About $200 is average for food and drinks without the lodging for just me. $20/drink and $50 or so for dinner (and that is like a chicken sandwich and an appetizer, lol).

At $20 a drink it would cost me way more than $200

it also helps if you don't act like a little bitch about it and react with understanding that sometimes shite happens, hotel people, and airline people for that matter, have quite a bit of latitude to compensate customers for inconveniences, the more civil you are the likelihood of some pretty nice comps will be, but most people go off the edge when minor things like that happen when they are traveling, as if they've beem personally attacked
Amen to this. I think the GM knew that I was sincere and I told him I don't do the online review garbage and was just looking for him to take care of the issue.
An example of stupid people being stupid. Friday evening traffic was all kinds of fubar heading into Nola due to a gas spill. I stopped at a little family place in La Place to waste some time to eat. They were a little overwhelmed and I understood. The dumbass lady next to me leans over and ask me how the service had been. I said it was ok, I had a drink and was happy. She was pissed off and said they had been waiting 10 minutes and no server had come and taken their order. The bitch had a coors light and sweet tea on her table that someone delivered. She was mad and told the manager she and her husband were leaving to go eat at some Asian place so they could get faster service

A friend of mine is a Senior partner with a prominent maritime defense firm. He has been to India once when he first started with that firm in the mid-‘80s. He now has it in his contract that he specifically cannot be, under any circumstances, compelled by the firm to go to the Republic of India.

That’s all you’re going to tell us? What do they do to make up for it?

I stay in hotels multiple times a week so I'm surprised I haven't had too many bad experiences. The worst was in West Little Rock at the Courtyard when my car was broken into by a meth head. Front desk called me at 2am telling me the cops wanted to see me at my car.
I had $100K worth of medical equipment in the car at the time and the addict only got away with $5 worth of change from my cup holder.

Me and my dad were going hunting the next morning. Place was in horrible shape but the heat worked.
2am a dude started beating the door yelling for Buster.
I would have been a lot more nervous if we didn’t have two 30-06’s and a .380 pointed at the door in a record .013 milliseconds

Stumbled and fell, coming out of elevator where tile met the carpet, at a hotel in Baltimore. Got a little rug burn on my left knee but didn't think anything of it. Three weeks later I was in the hospital with MRSA. Went thru seven operations and spent three months in the hospital. After that I spent ten months in a nursing home for wound treatment and physical therapy

I stayed at the Holiday Inn by Restoration Park in West Monroe during it's first year of existence. Was there to be a groomsman at a wedding at the now defunct Pine Hills Country Club in Calhoun. Two hours before the wedding, I jump in the shower, and there's no water. They had a plumbing problem, and cut all of the water off. By the time they got it back on, I missed a walk thru, and only had 30 minutes to get ready and drive over for the wedding. I got chewed out by the groom's mother.

Maids tried to break into my safe in a Munich hotel. The safe locked down, that's how we knew. Had to get the front desk crew to bring up the skeleton key to get it open, and we even got major flak off of them.
We slept with the valuables under our pillow and left the next day. frick you Novum Hotel München am Hauptbahnhof.

Had a guy standing in the hallway outside my room talking loud on the phone at 3:00 am. Stepped out to say something and it was a big arse black dude wearing an ankle bracelet. On second thought, I wasn’t really that tired.

Had a flat tire not far from Red Cardinal Inn in Opelousas. I would’ve been better off sleeping in the car. Hookers and johns were coming and going all night.

Not the hotel's fault, but during election season I stayed at a Trump hotel and there were groups of illegals driving by causing trouble in front.
They eventually had to call the cops to straighten things out.
Really made Trump's case stronger.

I've stayed at that Red Roof Inn many times. It was clean, inexpensive, and Waffle House was across the parking lot. It was close to several family members, and a short drive to the airport.
That part of Little Rock started to get sketchy before Katrina. Last time I stayed there, lots of hookers and druggies wandering around. I saw in the paper's police reports of doors being kicked in and robberies there.
Glad you made it out with just the loss of your stuff.

An obese Avon rep tried to fist my butthole in the Hyatt on the San Antonio Riverwalk while I was black out drunk and on 3 Lortab. Fortunately I believe she stopped at 3.5 fingers.
