will start passing the ball 30-40 times a game and blow everybody’s mind. Oh and with a supposedly an unproven QB. The sky has to be falling. People I am here to tell everyone to calm the “F” down... we have 2 STUD QBS that could have been interchangeable with either Jake Fromm or Tua Tagliavoa. Yes I just said that. I have seen them all live, up close and personal and I am telling you put in the same situation both Brennan and Narcisse would have been capable of the same results. And they are both on our team!!!! Ok Supposedly Brennan did not beat out Etling, neither did Tua beat out Hurts but he did pretty good in the Nati game. Either one of our guys arguably would have done the same thing given the same opportunity. Jake did not beat out Eason except for a season ending injury. But Fromm did pretty good. So would either one of our guys given the same opportunity. Most of us have no idea what we have at the QB position because it is unlike anything in recent history. That I promise!!!

None of this is relevant to this thread. It’s “what record is successful to you?”

When Saban made an SECCG appearance in year 2 at LSU and in year 2 at Alabama, he did not have to coach against the best HC in college football history who was at the winningest SEC football program. Saban had it easier than Miles did or than O does.

Dude, why come on a thread about expectations and not even have any.

Get off your fricking high horse or GTFO.

No you won't and you'll find a way to blame not only Orgeron but Joe Alleva, FKing Alexander and Derek Ponamsky as well...not to mention Steve Ensminger

Supposed to be an “expectations of a successful 2018” thread. You’ve posted a lot in it without giving any.

Preseason rank? Not very good forecaster.

All you have to do is read this board to get your answer to that lol

What is acceptable to you in 2018 (football)?
F) forget the record for the moment;
I want a strong, well-coached game that is at least competitive with Miami, where the QB is sharp, decisive and accurate, the WRs get open and make plays, the running game is effective, the o-line is solid provides consistent protection. The defense is in position, does not get pushed around, doesn't let people run open. The kicking game is a FG lock within 50 yds and results in touchbacks, and doesn't shank punts or allow huge runbacks.
There should never be a question whether LSU should be on the same field as Miami, talent-wise. Ideally, there should be a question whether Miami should be on the field with LSU.

And then, I want the team to look a little better each game.

As I said, don't even discuss W-L record at this point. The Auburn game last year was a great comeback, but was huge example of up&down play. Tennessee also, for half the game LSU looked like crap. I WANT a team that plays solid and pretty mistake-free from start to finish, and if they lose, the other team earns it.

Get that from a team with a soph (or redshirt freshman) QB, let the chips fall where they may, and then enter the next season TRULY thinking LSU is back at the top level of football.

otherwise 2 losses.

I am with you. Only way I can handle 3 losses. To see drastic improvements in the passing game. If we are still mediocre with it and lose 3-5 games it will be considered a failure. I know this schedule isn't easy but the standards shouldn't change. I hope we can pull it off

I'd say (A) but a more realistic expectation is probably (B) 3 losses. Decision totally based upon strength of schedule and new qb. If coaches get passing game to be top three in SEC, we only lose 2 max regular season games. Auburn, Florida and Miami are winnable games. Good probability we win against ole miss, arky and aTm. Bama and Georgia are questionable.

So now we're about being realistic?

I've always been realistic. Others here are not.

Expectations should always be win every game. Realistically, that seldom happens. This is not hard to comprehend or anything new for that matter. If Bama keeps winning the SECW and LSU does not, he will also be fired. This is quite simple to figure out.

Oh, I thought it was what was acceptable in the way of our team on and off the field. Record or otherwise. Wins, loses, performance, offense scheme, defense scheme, just about anything that is acceptable or not. Like I am not willing to accept anything less than the very best offense to put our players in the very best position to win every fricking game.. the same goes for our defense.. if those things are addressed the W and L column will take care of itself. I am with you brother!!

Anything below A) equals “we should have kept Les Miles.”

Miles' last four years at LSU:

2013: 10-3
2014: 8-5
2015: 9-3
2016: 2-2

That comes out to a winning percentage of 69% (nice!), but if you take out 2013, it goes down to 65%.

Orgeron's first two years:

2016: 6-2
2017: 9-4

That's a winning percentage of 71%. If he finishes 2018 with 3 or fewer losses, it will be an improvement over Miles' recent years.

This year will tell us a lot about the direction of the program.

10 wins or Ed O needs to hit the mother fricking road. We didn't fire our 10 wins/year and greatest coach in school history to be worse. It's beyond unacceptable.

I bar for LSU is 10 wins and we don’t seem to be too forgiving about that.

It was a simple question Tenia. Answer it or not, but you’re bringing a lot of negative shite in here and haven’t yet.

10 wins - preferably with a bowl win, but that's not a hard requirement.

10 wins is progress. 9 wins means we fired Les to get O at the same level of performance (since 2011, of course).

(I'm tough, but I'm fair.)
