You act like they can control every aspect of their schedule. Georgia Tech didn't reschedule them. Power teams will avoid "upset" games.

I don't know why people keep this bringing this up. It doesn't matter how much they can control. The committee only had those games to judge them from.

By this logic Butler should have never been in the Final Four because they didn't play in a power 5 conference. Thankfully every other sports gives every school a shot at winning a title.

Come on man, you can't compare basketball and football like that. There's way more parity in basketball.

Meh.

If the only thing that changes in this year's Iron Bowl is Alabama is replaced by UCF, Auburn wins the game by ~30.

Completely different. Auburn isn't above a fricking NY bowl. That's a very lame excuse, and game would have gone much differently, had they not been motivated

Ok. UCF would have been undefeated in any major conference. I'm convinced now.

You think Utah was really better team than Bama in '08?

Judging by what happened on the field...yes.

Judging by this logic I'm proclaiming Nebraska best team in the nation because they were clearly not motivated the entire year.

In 1970, Texas lost in the Cotton Bowl. They still claim a national title that year.

Auburn had ball in hand to tie at the end

Bama got blown out because they didn’t give a shite.

holy bridge you just crossed there...wtf? And if you look at my posts, I specifically singled out your motivation argument. Not anything else.

o that means they played as hard as possible? Perhaps they were good enough that even playing unmotivated they could hang. You're using Peej logic there.

So you think UCF destroys Bama then?

Seriously, are we really using a meaningless exhibition game that Auburn was clearly disappointed to be in as any sort of indication that UCF is the best in the country?

Built in excuse that I'm frankly tired of hearing. UCF beat Auburn on the field. Period.

Was pulling for UCF against Auburn. Just getting annoyed with them now.

Yeah, they sure proved it by beating 11 G5 teams, a 4-8 P5 team, and a 3 loss P5 team in their bowl game.

They certainly deserve it more than any Arkansas team ever has.

Very true. Doesn't mean UCF wasn't deserving of a shot.

No other sport is afraid to give the small schools a shot. Why football?

Or is it that the Big dogs are afraid if a mid-major pulls a major upset and actually wins a title it will bring about the parity that exist in other sports. Just a thought.

And my earlier comment about Nebraska was tongue in cheek. Was quite obviously not serious about that. I don't buy the unmotivated excuse.

Give UCF credit for beating Auburn.

How is that hard to believe? I don’t believe a team that is unmotivated stays in that game at all.

What are you even talking about? I’m not talking about UCF vs Bama. You brought up that Utah game. They gave up 21 in the first quarter. It was obvious from the start they didn’t give a shite about that game.

This is textbook "stawman". You can do better than this.
