I’d like to see them sign yu and give the cubs a real run on that division. Also I’m sure they expect hader to get in the rotation also.

Yeah they can use Hader similar to how we used Peacock last year I think to limit the workload some if they want. I think they will sign a SP, might be a Lance Lynn type
Darvish goes to Minnesota IMO

I agree I think Darvish goes to Minnesota and Arrieta goes to the Angels.

Anyone surprised Whitley didn’t get an invite to major league camp?

Damn I must’ve missed the non roster invitees this morning
Feel like Jon Kemmer been around forever for some reason

Yeah I’m just wondering if there’s some reason for it. Odd I think

Whitley comes in at #9 in MLB's top 100. #2 pitcher behind Ohtani.

Looks like the Astros may start getting the Yankees Effect when evaluating farm talent
Not taking anything away from Whitley, but not so certain he's second pitcher.
Could be helpful in future transactions as far as perception if this keeps up

I mean he’s one of like 4 or 5 pitchers in the last couple decades that have made AA at 19, and K’d like 14 per 9 last year. He’s pretty damn good

I think he's a future starter for us. I don't have any reservations about him translating to the majors.
There's just a couple other names that typically have been mentioned prior to Whitley's, and I can't help but think that the Astros recent success and penchant for evaluating talent have had and may continue to have an overly positive effect on future projections.
It's good to be the King. LOL

Pretty much all the ranking sites have him as a top 10-15 overall prospect, and top 3 pitcher. I think your thoughts are the exception and not the rule. The dude is good......very good

The pitcher ranked ahead of him is 23. He's 19.
There's a couple of more seasoned arms w similar potential ranked behind him
It's not a big deal to me. Just saying it will be nice to get the benefit of the doubt like Yankees and Dodgers have in the past.

Ahhh I see the disconnect here
This prospect list isn’t about immediate impact in the MLB or who has the highest floor
It’s about who has the highest ceiling. Sure he’s only 19 and not seasoned but couple that with his ridiculous numbers and the scouting they have done on his different pitch types have him labeled as a bear can’t-miss arm

21 Days until the first full-squad work-out for Spring Training.
