Here is an example for me.

I went to LSU, my dad went to Michigan. I support Michigan and root for them, but I would drive 10 hours for a game, and I wouldn't sit in snow all day, and I wouldn't pay $400 for a ticket to a ranked game, and I wouldn't be heartbroken if they lost

I would do all of those things for LSU. Anyone can be a fan, I am totally ok with that. Anyone can be very passionate about their team. The difference is alumni have a deeper love and connection for the team beyond football.

LSU the academic institution really needs money. I try to give as much as I can, though it's not much. It's so important to give back to institutions that have bettered your life. I don't give to TAF anymore. The money is needed more on the academic side and we all see how much good giving to TAF does LOL.

Actually, I just like that GIF. But you do come across as a non alumni intent on trying to denigrate the contributions of alumni. FTR, I am not an alumnus though my first year of college was at LSU. It ruined me for USL football.

As a side note, I wonder how many people in the stadium are people who attended but did not graduate LSU

ETA: I am also the parent of a child attending LSU and living on campus, so they get a LOT of my money on the academic side now.

I have always believed that being an alumnus should be worth X number of priority points in the TAF system. But it gets you nothing. It's all about the dolla$.

Small sample but of the 100 or so tickets owned by my family and friends, I know of 5. actual alumni in that group. Lot of self made small business owners. More loyal to the Tigers than most of my fellow alumni friends...until this week.

Alumni also are more likely to support the entire university, and not be apathetic or outright hostile to the academic mission.

My FIL is not an alumnus, but is a football season ticket holder and a huge follower of LSU sports of all kinds. A couple years ago, we passed the new LSU Foundation building on the way to a game and he asked what that was. When I told him it was for the LSU Foundation, he said "You mean TAF?". I said no, this is for the academic side of the university. He looked confused as though he didn't know or understand why something like that existed. I wanted to ask "You do know this is a school, right?", but I chose not to be a smart arse.

JimRockford..Sheek, I agree, seems similar to comments I've heard from old friends that are Alums.

Hence my thread this morning : "Leverage" aka Pressure..

I just hope everyone's collective attitude toward LSU is in the mode of "stop settling for less."

(yeah I almost pun'd it with Les).

Yes, that's a solid point re: education /funding--

Having lived /worked all over the country (now an aging/ole geezer), it sickens me to see the continued mentality of our fans that somehow believes our kids will still succeed in the information-job-market while allowing our State education to flounder..

as it has perennially...

Then by definition, you are an alumnus.

It means that you attended, not that you graduated.

Just to show you how stupid this post is, i personally know people who did not graduate from LSU that are far bigger fans than others that I know that hold degrees from LSU.

Up till about two years ago we tailgated with a group of about 25 to 30 people. Out of that group probably half went to LSU the other half went to other schools across Louisiana and Mississippi or didn't even go to college at all.

Man... 15% seems low to me but I can see it. As an alumni I've always felt like the losses hit me harder...I feel at more as a hit to my pride when I see my alma go down as a oppose to someone who sees the team they like go down....

I always assumed it meant graduated, good to know. Now I am an LSU and USL alumnus instead of just a USL alumnus.

My family has been sitting in the same section of the upper south for 45+ years.

My parents, my siblings, most of my nieces and nephews are Alumni.

What"s being an Alumni have to with wanting to see the best possible product on the field? I dont blame people for leaving at half time, the product is shite, and the game day experience has been eroded so much, the experiences from 10-20-30 years ago have become distant memories.

I believe Alleva and Orgeron are incompetent fools. Orgeron didnt earn anything. He was a player in the plot to get rid of Miles. Alleva has vested in Orgeron with that ridiculous buyout

theyre both going to have to face the music
