Crime is obviously out of control here.

Hillar Moore, the local DA, is begging for money to keep his office from falling apart. Chronic shortages of ADAs to prosecute a massive backlog of cases. And it's so bad, he just sued the City Parish for more funds.

Meanwhile, Coach Sid Edwards, just 2 weeks ago, greenlighted 60 damn Million dollars for sidewalks and bike paths on Florida Blvd.

Yeah.

Hillar gets a bad rap on the OT but I actually know the guy and he wants to do the right thing. But he has been budget limited from the day he took office and has had no luck getting anyone in power to help him fix it.

A little trivia. From his first day in office, he personally goes to every homicide crime scene. Regardless of day of the week or time. Think about the commitment to that given the crime rate in BR.

I don't know anything more than I saw today from him at the PC... even Kamala Harris would need a decoder ring to begin to fathom even the idea of whatever the hell he was trying to say.

I was not impressed.

They spent millions putting bike paths down S Harrells Ferry several months back while making the driving lanes narrower.

I live off of S Harrells Ferry, and I've yet to see a single bike on them

MOVEBR is funded by a dedicated sales tax.

Sidewalks are more important than lawyers. BR is a run down town. Any dollar you spend could be spent elsewhere just as easy.

It’s just a matter of time before the situation starts to affect the university as well. Hell, it already has. Why do you think the student union is closed on football game days now, and why a once prime tailgating location is now fenced off?

He’s trying to undo almost a decade of rot and decay

I’d bet almost all that money was federal and state dollars slated for infrastructure projects. You can’t just take that money and reallocate it for whatever you want.

Yeah.

It doesn't matter. None of it matters. It doesn't matter who's mayor, who the DA is, who the chief of police is. None of it matters.

You live in a blue city in the south.

Enjoy the good times, hug your family tight, spend lots of money to insulate your children in private schools, try to make some money, watch LSU play sports, and hey... that's it.

You may die tomorrow in a hail of gunfire. Your kids may die tomorrow in a hail of gunfire. That's the way it is here now and it's the way it will be FOREVER. You cannot change it. The judges will release them intermittently with conditions they will not comply with, and there's no police presence to protect you from them. This is the way it is. Try to enjoy it. Go to JazzFest, go to Saints games, go to Festival Internationale, go fishing, eat some poboys, and try not to die.

Sid not willing to call balls and strikes here has been very very disappointing.

Great.

He can go see the victims of the people the judges released back into the population. He probably knows the killers by name.

Does not mean he can’t come out swinging in a situation like this. His response to yesterday has been tepid and lukewarm at best.

Landry who has numerous faults, atleast showed passion and frustration which we can all resonate with.

EBR is taxed to death. The problem is that most are dedicated taxes that provide zero ROI as it relates to needs. Public schools , BREC , Library, MOVEBR, etc. The library is my favorite. If you ever want to see a waste of $50 million per year, stopping in any library in Parish. My best guess is that the average less than 20 visitors per day throughout the year.

Almost all doesn't mean all. If we we're spending a single cent to make a bike path instead of trying to crack down on crime, our priorities are whack

To a large extent, he’s only in office because he might be the only white guy in this town that could get blacks to vote for him, I suspect that’s part of what is holding him back. Broomestick fricked up BR royally, and all her hires that she solely based on skin pigmentation, like Murphy Paul, exacerbated it. Meanwhile she spent her entire second term in court trying to keep her main revenue stream from getting away. Even post Katrina, Kip had us in a better place bc he let his cops be cops and crack some skulls.

You can usually tell who doesn't understand taxes and the way spending works in post like this

Hillar is piggy backing off the BRPD raises (actual change to help fight crime) and trying to get his because he is not lying, definitely underfunded. He should complain about the judges first that keep letting criminals go then budget
