SpaceX to acquire 30,000 acres in Vermilion Parish for Spaceport?

It’s still officially in the rumor stage and not confirmed by any official source publicly yet. I’ve spoken to a a couple of credible people who lease land near Pecan Island that say they’ve been told that SpaceX is in the process of purchasing 30,000 acres near the Freshwater City locks to build a new spaceport to launch and retrieve rockets. Apparently the location is the right mix of remoteness with ability to use barges for moving the rockets plus nearby access to rocket fuel ingredients. This would explain the aerospace industry incentive bills that are in the LA legislature right now.
A LDWF employee told me that the governor visited the site the week of Easter.
Would be great for the area’s economy but obviously impact the wetlands and how they are currently used (mostly for recreational use with limited commercial seafood harvest).
Anyone else have any info about this?

You familiar with the area and sport?
You definitely don’t seem like the outdoor, hunter, baw type. Pictured you as more of a bespectacled D&D guy sipping tea in a nightshirt.

I only question it because I don’t really see the benefits vs their already established facilities in Texas and it breaks the “rule” of having a coast to the east for safety reasons.

And isn’t that really the most important thing?

That’s awesome. I assume we might be able to see some of the launches across south Louisiana? Is that right?

Ah, please let us stifle human advancement for the ducks.
Pretty sure ducks are down with a spaceport, if it keeps the fricking hunters away. Think of the ducks you damn liberal.

I'm sure if we looked into your history we'd find somewhere where you cried about ducks being hunted.

bro...if they keep building things then we cant blame landry for everything and complain about the economy....so we will use duck hunting as the reason....try and keep up bro

I'm trying to imagine all the execs at SpaceX being taken to the finest steak house in the parish, but only to realize it's Hebert's in Kaplan.

A rocket launch every once in a while wont keep migrating ducks away

I know that area like the back of my hand. I’ve been fishing and shrimping in Rockefeller and on Vermillion Corp land for decades.

That's a fine idea and all, until that first Cat 3 or higher hits dead center

Yeah why would we want Elon Musk investing in our state and brining his rocket bullshite to our area of the state that's struggling the most. We got ducks to kill baw!!!
Next thing you know we gonna have boys trying to be gay shite like scientist and engineers. Where the hands gonna come from then huh??

If it comes down to a huge investment in the state or TBoy being able to hunt ducks I think this is a really easy decision.
Just head up to Arkansas for a hunt.

Don’t forget the possible water contamination. Whatever economic benefits it could bring could be outweighed by environmental concerns.
