Louisiana Lagniappe seems to be a favorite of the F&D Board. Will be hosting several out of town guests and would appreciate the board's opinion on their favorite/memorable meals to suggest. Thanks.

***Appreciate all of the input. Sounds like anything on the menu will not disappoint.

Truly. All dishes are great, even steaks. The tournedos might be the best thing on the menu

Their filet is served with a butter that is just fantastic. It’s almost like a tangy, wine, garlic and herb flavored butter.

I suggest their filet topped with crabmeat and bearnaise sauce.

My mom would order this but substitute the oyster with lump crab meat. It is very good.

They never had either...for ten or fifteen years the fish of the day has been black drum.

Edit: My favs are the Fish en Papillote, Pontchartrain, Oysters Lagniappe and the perennial special Cocodrie. But as mentioned, everything is good. As an aside, we went a couple weeks ago and noticed that somethings were slightly different. I guess the new owners are making tweaks.

For starters:

Chipotle Shrimp
Blackened Shrimp

are great. I prefer the Blackened Shrimp as it comes with a pineapple butter rum sauce.

And their Corn and Crab Bisque is very good.

For main entrees:

Fresh Fish en Papillote (fish in parchment paper or fish in a bag)
Pontchartrain (if you like soft shell crab as well)
Tournedos (if you have someone willing to share their meal, i.e. Fish en Papillote), or this and split it to share. This may be their best dish.

Their marinated crab fingers are some of the best I've ever had. I've never come across another place that does them the same way

My absolute go to when I eat at Louisiana Lagniappe with an order of Oysters Lagniappe as an appetizer.

Hell, I’d go to LL for the house salad alone.

I was worried about a drop in quality after Ortego sold it, but I was not disappointed last time I was there. Kevin said nothing would change and at least the time I was there, I didn’t notice a difference.

My pro tip is to get half fish Pecan Meunière and half Almondine. The Pecan Meunière is too rich for the whole fish and the lighter Almondine is a perfect balance to that.

It’s like getting two different entrees in one.

I like this as well.

What I also like is when you sit down they bring you a glass of water (H2O, also known as wet liquid)

Love the eggplant appetizer and crabcakes for starters. The tournedos are fantastic. And their key lime pie is to die for...

Friends just ate there and said the crabmeat was a bit off. Might ask about the quality of the crabmeat before ordering. He said they said go through a lot a crabmeat and it is more difficult this time of year to supply.

As someone else said their fried oysters added to a salad are great. Generally the best fried oysters in town.

With a small loaf of French Bread. Bisque and Sensation Salad.

Thanks, I’ll be going there soon.
