Anyone ever go from that interchange from I-55 to I-12? It is a horrible feeling. Hold your breath and hope nobody slams into the back of you.

Have a nice day.

Clearly you never went to SLU

I-12 is one of the worst stretches of interstate ive ever drove... insane tailgating and insane traffic all combined in in a shoebox

From northbound 55 to 12 west is a bad, very short lane merge especially if you're in a big truck, let alone a car.

About a million times. It’s never bothered me in the slightest. Just don’t ask me to drive over a tall bridge.

Yes. It's way too short for the speeds people are driving I12. I once had to do it in a UHaul that would barely do 70. I was nervous.

*driven

Pretty sure it's near of top of which interstate has the highest average speed. I've literally had people blow past me when I was driving 90 mph. Cops were around but didn't seem to care.

It’s unbelievable that this interchange still exists

Hammond resident, frequent visitor to the interchange. After a few dozen tries you get the hang of it but there’s always that couple of seconds where you can’t see the oncoming traffic that you kinda have to power thru.

Respectful drivers on 12 get over to the left lane as you approach the interchange. Admittedly that’s a minority of the total though

Cloverleaf intersections like that one and the Airline/I-12 should be outlawed

They do little but create traffic backups and hazardous merges

Even State Troopers think it’s too dangerous to do speed traps .

The drivers are mostly Baton Rouge area dumbass kids who didn’t have the grades to make it to LSU, so they commute to Southeastern.

The two in Mississippi on I-10 at US-49 and I-110 are special. Especially if you have to use the inside cloverleaf ramps that take you 270 degrees around. Like I-110 North to Westbound I-10.

Looking at the map, I-10 west to I-110 South is a doozy.

US 90 in Gibson has one that will have you leaving hand prints on your steering wheel as you come from Highway 20 to Westbound 90 as you have no idea where you are as you are surrounded by swamp on a bridge.

You have about 75 feet to merge into oncoming 80 mph

Yup. But usually a weekend so not quite as bad. Very short merge. I don’t like it.

Those interchanges were designed when the speed limit was 55mph and aren't safe for today's speeds.

The one in Mississippi is a lot better than the one at I 12 and I 55. The one in Mississippi uses collector-distributor roads so you don’t need to merge onto the main line interstate until you’re up to speed. Look at the picture and you’ll see the parallel roads with i-10.
