NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - All riders on Float 10 in the Krewe of Carrollton parade were kicked off after they threw beads at police officers in an aggressive way, officials said.

The riders were removed from the parade after the incident was reviewed. Officials said they do not know if any police cars were damaged. They are still looking into what happened.

NOPD has decided not to press charges and will let the Krewe handle it internally.

Assholes. Even the NOPD haters have to admit the officers earn their money during MG. Leave them alone.

I was standing at the corner of St. Charles and Washington and they stopped the parade and made everyone get out of the intersection on the River side saying a float was coming off of the route. The police then changed their minds and waved the float forward. They let everyone else back into the intersection. I suppose they made everyone get off a little further up the route. We had no idea what was going on.

Imagine paying that kind of money to ride in a parade and getting kicked off the float that early on? I mean, I'm curious to why they would have all done that (and at that particular time) since there are police literally all across the entire route. This a strange one.

When I was about 13-14, some drunk jack arse threw a doubloon sideways like he was skipping it. Just at that moment I stood up straight on the ladder and looked toward the floats. It hit me in the open eye. I haven’t had much worse pain than that to this day. I wish I could have killed that MF’er. I hate Mardi Gras.

Is there more to the story or were the riders as asinine as they sound?

Yeah, something’s not right. To remove 30 or more guys for more than likely the actions of a few isn’t reasonable. The guys on the other side probably had no idea what was going on. Someone will have video of it. At least the innocent ones got to ride the best part of the route.

Comments on IG seem to suggest they were crushing lots of people from that float- more than just police.

Never know truth of it but a lot of comments about the float

I mean, kicking off all riders on both sides of the float seems extreme, but maybe there is a logical explanation somewhere out there. Probably a combo of a few retard/drunk riders and maybe a few overreacting police. Never heard of all riders on a float being locked off the float in the middle of a parade in all of my life.

I'm sorry that happened. Unfortunately, I think incidents like that are more common than many acknowledged.I went to Bacchus with my GF, and had a water bottle smack me in the head. A friend saw it thrown, and we were not near the front. I took my son to see a friend ride recently and got smacked in the head with a gross. Mardi Gras has a wonderful, storied history. But many riders can't hold their liquor. Anyone with a few k who wants to feel fancy and ride can. They decide to huck things at people, and there's almost nothing that can be done about it. Also, Mardi Gras parades are repetitive, wasteful, and the major balls gauche, black tie tailgate-concerts. If it's your thing, good for you. But for me, I'd as soon see it return to something akin to what it once was or fall by the wayside.
