I looked into it, but I was going to launch from the boat launch. I watched a few videos on YouTube on a dude fly fishing it from a kayak. But he didn't look too successful.

I would recommend not taking out at 442. It's very steep and not a lot of shoulder to take out to load up.
I want to try further up river if you got any recommendations on where is a good stretch.

So 40 to 442 was pretty rough float but mostly because of the last 3/4 of the trip. About 100 yards before you get to 442, there's an oxbow that got sanded in. You now have to navigate a small creek with some treacherous trees and limbs, I kept waiting for my path to be blocked by a large tree but got lucky.
Ended up mostly paddling and learning the river. Only pulled in 2 small bass but there was a pretty heavy thunderstorm yesterday afternoon that went directly over Independence to Hammond that probably dirtied the water. I think I'll try further north next time and take my time fishing from sandbars as I get to them to slow down a little.

I can let you know after tomorrow, but there's a few videos of locals doing it over the years on YouTube.

We are going to float 40 to 442, but not keeping any. More of a test run on the river than an actual fishing trip.
My buddy did 38 to 440 on Wednesday and had a good catch.

Got out for a couple hours on my family pond to test this thing out. Decided to throw a white choppo 75 on a 5'8" falcon peacock bass rod I picked up a few weeks ago for river fishing.
Had pretty good success right before daybreak and about an hour after. Here's the two I bought in, had several other blowups.
Didn't have a measuring board, but a foot measurement worked fine.
I plan on hitting the tangi River tomorrow morning to float.

I live in Hammond but I have been by No Wake before. This was before I found this rod and I was only asking about a beginner combo and lessons. I figure I can watch some youtube videos and get it set up.
Fly fishing set up

Helping my mother in law clean out an old shed and found a fly rod and reel. I did a little research and it looks like it's a Eagle Claw mc300 fiberglass rod. Apparently this was a pretty cheap set up but should be good for me to learn on.
I was hoping I could get some advice on line and lures? I found a box with a couple accardo bugs from baton rouge in it and some other various flys. I wanted to use it to bass fish if it could be set up for that.
Thanks for any help.

I've been between the RVR or the shoalie, just was waiting for a good deal on either. Worked out well for me.
I did buy a lifetime Yukon Angler for $200 about a month ago and it's been good enough. So now I've got an extra

you want a river/moving water paddle kayak, also look at the Crescent Shoalie, Crescent Smallie or the Bonafide RVR119. A used Old Town Predator MX (what I currently use in the rivers) is another great option.
Ended up finding a RVR for a trade I was willing to make.

I was just looking at that area yesterday on maps. I'll have to scope it out next time up there.

How far up the river do you have to get to be able to wade most of it?

I had a similar situation a couple weeks ago, apparently all they need for proof of ownership is an insurance card, which is easily faked.

They gave incredibly vague details on this as well. You would think they would have given details on symptoms and severity of those affected, and where they got this milk from so people would particularly avoid those farms. They didn't provide any of that info at the time they initially released the article, not sure if they have since. but all the news around it seemed like they were just pushing an agenda.
This was all around the same time some of the local producers were getting shut out of distributors by Kleinpeter. They were having to find a way to sell the milk that was supposed to be sent to I'm not a raw milk drinker but it was very coincidental.

I'm from Ponchatoula, moved to Hammond and currently live by the college. I would recommend Hammond over Ponchatoula for living, especially being young with no kids.
I was in academy today and they had the Magellan 10' sit on top on sale for $499. The plastic felt pretty thick and didn't seem like much flex. Not sure about how they paddle or who actually makes them. But if I didn't just find this one on Facebook, I would have probably done some research on them.
I'm supposed to be picking up a lifetime Yukon Angler tomorrow for a good price. Been searching marketplace for awhile and wanted something fairly cheap to get back. Plan on using it on the rivers around the northshore.

This is going to be self defense. You could make the argument just on size and aggressiveness. Not to mention she retreated.

I'm going to piggy back on this post, I've got a conference in San Antonio at the end of August. Is there a one day guided float trip around the area? Or is that even a thing?
