The longtime Baton Rouge bar at 3753 Perkins Road closed its doors on Jan. 15 after experiencing changes in the local bar landscape after the pandemic. An Instagram account for Truce & Chaos describes the upcoming b

In 2019, right before Covid, I started opening a bar on govt st next to Elsie’s. My wife and I got in a huge fight about it. Didn’t speak to each other for almost 24 hours. Our first born had just started sleeping a month before. The next day, she texted me “Truce. And that should be the name of the bar.” Truce alone was trademarked. Chaos is our life.

Truce & Chaos. I think all married couples with young kids (we have multiple now) can relate to that.

Chaos & Truce would make more sense considering that's the order in which they usually occur. Truce & Chaos makes me think of Turks & Caicos.

RIP Earls. Had many a fun night there from 2013-17 before they "revamped" it.

Thursday night 8-10 free drinks while trying to watch thursday night football with kevin gates blasting in your ears was always a fun time

I don’t see how this will do better than earls. Seems like a lot of square footage for a cocktail lounge. Going to be tough competing with Jubans for cocktails and bartops.

Sad state of affairs. Bottomless brunch did that place in and it never recovered the old crowd. When it was half the size it was the best bar in town with great happy hour, awesome bourbon list and great rotating taps. Was a regular for awhile. Then it shuts down for awhile struggles with its identity then culture took over.

Unpopular opinion: If the crowd pays the bills and overall isn't an issue for the bar staff (which is the case with Twist's patrons from what I can tell as a semi-regular patron), why would a business owner care?

It would be one thing if there were regular issues, fights, etc., but I don't think that's really the case with Twist. At least, not any more so than idiots in bars anywhere else. Their customers are pretty loyal and mostly all regulars, at least on the days I go in. Everyone's money is the same, ya know?

EDIT: I do agree though that regardless of who the customers are, Sundays are a no-go for me until like 6pm or later. Mostly because I don't want to sit at a table all alone with nobody to talk to, and the bar is filled with shouting people who have had bottomless alcohol all day long. But there are plenty of places I don't visit on peak shifts, like Superior.

Last couple times I've been the place has smelled like vomit.

Most recently, wife and I walked out before finishing our first drink, the stench was unbearable.

If this is the result of a particular group of patrons, I'd imagine the business owner would care.

It has unfortunately smelled like that for years all hours of the day/night. It is not because patrons are walking around vomiting. It's a building issue as far as I can tell.

Although I concede it reeks.

It starts off fine and no big deal, then a few years later there's a shooting in your parking lot.
