From Gina Yashere, who plays Starfleet instructor Lura Thok:

quote:

“Who watched @startrek #starfleetacademy yesterday? I think the entire cast is a damn good mix! We #woke as hell over here! So #woke. Incredible woke. Woker than woke. Wokey woke woke. A cacophony of woke.”

That’s the way to bring in the masses. Ask Snow White’s Rachel Zegler how that worked out.

I did chuckle that nerdrotic got more people to watch a stream of a Spock action figure just sitting there compared to the peak amount that watched the stream of the 1st episode.

Pretty sure this show is universally disliked.

Stolen food man, in the Star Trek world, is the best way they could think to develop a character. Not stealing photon torpedoes. Not using his Dad's old phaser to raise hell somehow. Not hacking a teleporter to, o, I dont know, teleport into and out of parties? Hermione using a time machine to attend more classes is more clever than this shite.

Food. fricking food. And the klingon, instead of getting into fights left and right for every slight, no matter how slight, is wild. maybe they could have explored what its like to go through late onset puberty as a klingon?

Nooooo. lets make that thing effete and genteel. If that was Worf's kid he'd slice him in half and not think twice about it.

So she pretty much admitted this show has nothing entertaining or appealing about it. All it is is woke.

I guess if thats all they were aiming for, good job.

Kurtzman admitted this years ago. He said he only wants to use Star Trek as a vehicle to push political messaging. He was not vague or subtle, he came out and said it.

You’d think production companies would have figured out that this shite doesn’t translate to profits by now. Who gives a shite if you get a lot of good press when you keep losing millions?

There is a reason these trash episodes drop at midnight.

It's one big allegory to promote open borders and claim the white guy is evil.

Pretty standard stuff from a nearly dead industry.

Matt Walsh did a show on it this week. Entertaining to say the least. Matt Walsh that is, not the new Starleet Academy.

How does dialogue like this not resonate with you?

You don't like how the venerated Star Fleet is now run by a bunch of wine aunts?

You don't think a show that is supposed to be about the greatness of mankind should be filled with every grievance and disablity they can think of

The 3rd episode wasn’t that bad.

This I find hilarious.

The federation has essentially cured the vast majority of issues.

IMO, the person in the wheelchair is simply choosing to keep their disability for some reason.

I'm not that interested to watch, but I am curious why does the Academy have a ship? Is that just a captains chair in a simulator or does the faculty actually have a ship?

Which is saying something because Worf was the most calm and rational klingon imaginable.

i mean, are we REALLY that shocked that a show based on a universe set in a left wing liberal utopia is woke? going all the way back to the original series, they have been pushing "woke" stuff. first interracial kiss anyone? not judging either way as sci-fi stuff has never been my thing but star trek has ALWAYS been like this.

What, did Trek leave the post scarcity era that all basic needs essentially cost nothing so there was no real poverty anymore?

Why the hell does someone need to steal food in that world when they have replicators which can make pretty much every meal you could dream of?

Yes Star Trek has always been about inclusiveness and society getting beyond base human emotions of fear, bigotry, greed, and crime. But it has also been about intelligent and thoughtful writing with some reverence to the human pursuit of ideals and growth. So far this show has not delivered upon the original intent of Star Trek IMO. I don't think it takes itself seriously enough. It has an air of cheapness of thought to it- the irreverence was always the side dish not the main course. Just my opinion.
