At least 3 times a week around here, they are busting this filth. Is it something with the BR area, or is it nationwide with technology going rampant both ways. easier to get access, and easier to bust them? How can you be in anyway sexualized by a prepubescent child? And how do they not know they are getting busted left and right the past couple of years?

quote:

PRAIRIEVILLE — Ascension Parish deputies have arrested a Prairieville man accused of 60 counts of possessing child pornography.

Benjamin McNeal, 49, was arrested on Dec. 11 on 54 counts of possessing child sexual abuse materials, as well as six counts of child sexual abuse materials involving children under the age of 13.

Deputies began investigating McNeal on Dec. 2 when they received a tip about child sexual abuse materials uploaded to an online storage database and a social media application.

McNeal was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on a $50,000 bond after he was identified.

McNeal is a registered sex offender who has a criminal history in Ascension dating back to 2020.

And the judge that set only a 50k bond needs to be disrobed. He can get out with a Bail Bondsman for only $6k

According to experts there are hundreds of thousands of reported cases, the vast majority of which are never investigated seriously or prosecuted.

Im talking people reporting online pedo groups to the FBI with names, evidence and dates and never hearing back.

So it might not be a case of LA having more pedos than other areas, you might just be seeing more cases actually prosecuted rather than swept under the rug.

Its more of a control/power thing. Also a 'purity' issue. I dated a girl going to school for child psych and she had to learn about abuse.

It’s the same thing as teachers banging students. It’s been around for a very long time. Social media is just making you aware of it.

It’s not just around BR, this stuff is everywhere. The technology is making it both easier to have pedo material and bust pedos so it’s a double edged sword. There are apps that all you to take a picture of anyone and make them a nude picture.

It’s probably gonna get worse, to be honest

It's sickening to see how many registered sex offenders live around you. And that's just the ones that were caught. I read an article out of some other state the other day where some sick bastard was caught messing with kids, but the worst part was he was working as a Santa for hire. I hope they put him in general population with his offense tattooed to his forehead.

It does seem like there's more now but my guess is that general site-monitoring has gotten much better since AI and it allows them to scan for illegal content in real time and report it to authorities.

I think previously it took sting operations, evidence collected from other perps, etc. to actually catch them. There was either an AMA or AskReddit post several years ago about why it's so hard to stop. AI is kind of a game-changer here

Yep. It's happening everywhere though- the cases are usually small time so we never hear about other media markets. We just had a sheriff deputy convicted and one guy down the street from me got charged last month. He was a reoffender so it wasn't that surprising, but I imagine he never stopped

Nationwide.

Been a problem for many years but now there are more sophisticated ways to catch them plus, the populous realizes this can be reported even by kids.

This was years ago.. Maybe right before Covid or something, but I was listening to the podcast.. I forget the name, but its one that a dude who used to be a Livingston parish sheriffs deputy then worked for state law enforcement..

I remember him saying when he was with LP he asked a guy who was a policeman for Ascension Parish how common were pedo sex crimes in AP and I forget the exact numbers but whatever number the sheriffs deputy from AP told him, he said "okay, so I guess our numbers are closer to average than I thought. On average, we do a little more than that each week, but not by much".. And the dude from AP responded something like "A week? That number is based is per month".

This is one dude on a podcast, but based on what he said, I can only assume its not just a stereotype in Livingston Parish.

I am sure its a problem all over the place, but for some reason in the BR area it happens more often in LP... Or its at least reported more in the LP.

Livingston, Tangi, and St. Tammany parishes all seem to have high numbers.

I'm wondering if this is a mistake. Ascension puts all of their inmate information online: LINK

He had a $50k bond from his 2022 arrest. It doesn't list a bond on this arrest, and he doesn't have a release date. I'm wondering if the media just read the page wrong. Also, while I can't speak definitively on this case, I can tell you that that would be a staggeringly, staggeringly low bond in Ascension for 60 counts of CSAM. General MO is to give a bond amount per count, which usually reaches into the millions once they are all added together.

Bail requires defendants to pay the full amount upfront, while bonds only require defendants to pay 10-20% of the set bail amount.

The way this reads says bail would be 500,000
There is no information on Bond amount with the jail, 50,000 is listed the last time he was arrested.

Well that is NOT the way it works. My dad was a Bail Bondsman. It's only 12% of the bond fee. It's 10% to the bondmans for his fee and 2% to the state. But maybe the press got it wrong.
That makes more sense

“How can you be in anyway sexualized by a prepubescent child ?”

I’ve often wondered that myself,I can’t even imagine being attracted to children.
Same for homosexual sex.I’d rather die than do it with another man.
I need to go see a urologist but I can’t stand the thought of them sticking their finger up my arse and feeling around. It’s like a phobia with me.

As for the latter, in almost all of these stories you'll see something like this:

quote:

when they received a tip about child sexual abuse materials uploaded to an online storage database and a social media application.

They get busted more b/c of better tech.

The other popular option for them being busted is a search warrant for something unrelated that leads to a forensic computer analysis and, BOOM. That happened to the lawyer in BR who worked in politics, IIRC.
