What is your favorite gardening/outdoor tool?

Needing a Christmas gift idea for my dad. He just retired this past year and about all he does now is work out in the yard/garden.
So anything obscure that you’ve actually found useful?

Old guys do not appreciate such a thing.
They also don't hold up well over time. Mine started to bulge near the valve connector when connected to hose accessories. The only way to prevent it from bursting was to grip it tightly. That got old quick.

Felco pruners are pretty nice but Okatsune is the goat. Japanese hand tools are superior and their steel is amazing. I pair them with a Felco leather pouch. (It looks like AM Leonard is sold out of the larger size)

a good shovel. Not a home depot shovel but a good, long handle flat spearhead shovel. A joy to use and makes quick work of trenching and digging

This is the best thing I've bought for yardwork in a long time. It is one of those, "Where the hell has this been for my whole life?" deals.
