Boom Supersonic jets to make European franchises a reality for NFL

Article in WSJ today
quote:
The test flight of a plane called XB-1, developed by the company Boom Supersonic, became the first civilian jet to break the sound barrier since the Concorde. This was of particular interest to NFL executives who have spent recent years quietly monitoring the progress of Boom and other companies in this space, according to people familiar with the matter.
They knew that the return of supersonic travel could help make the league’s wildest fantasies come true.
Until now, the prospect of placing an NFL team—or perhaps an entire division—across the Atlantic had faced the seemingly insurmountable logistical hurdle of travel times. But cut those times roughly in half and that obstacle all but disappears: a supersonic flight from New York to London would take under four hours.

There will likely not be any practical version of this aircraft.

I disagree. Its also of great interest to Premier League / NBA and the Saudis for similar reasons.
Tens of billions at stake annually in addition to commercial flights which could probably sustain it as well.

I’m in my 30s and every passing day I find myself caring less and less about pro sports. And now with NIL, college too. NHL, F1, and UFC are the way.

We don't care about the NFL

Its mild entertainment but its expanding to completely clownish levels. It serves no other purpose than as a money-sucking distraction. There even used to be a real community aspect to it, but I dont think thats the case anymore. Sports are more likely to cause gambling addictions than to cause you to meet a new friend.

What free agents are going to sign with a European franchise? Especially with the way Europe is determined to turn itself into a Muslim shite hole.

All of you older baws disenchanted with pro sports need to give European soccer (mainly the premier league) a serious look.
It is high stakes and high jeopardy every match. Its kinda like how college football used to be before NIL. Arguments about Tradition, stadiums, fight songs, old rivalries, recruiting, uniforms, head coaches...its all there. One loss is treated like a crisis and its fun to see opposing fan bases absolutely melt down. There is a pettiness between fan bases that you really only see in college football but it's actually more intense in Europe.
There is so much drama, rich history and lore...and of course no commercials. Games typically start on time and no annoying production, info overload, sideline reporting nonsense typical from espn.
Im telling you give it a chance. World cup is next year in America, its a great time to get into the worlds most popular sport.

Already there and follow Manchester United and Im not older, but just started following sports from a young age and feel like I've already seen everything.
Sports media is so oversaturated now.

Any pro athlete that opts to play in Europe is a fool due to tax considerations.
Effective Tax Rate:
France: 45%
Germany: 39%
UK: 35%
Canada: 33%
US: 25%
And that’s before you get into the massive luxury tax rates paid for high earners in those nations.
Compare someone playing for the Jags with no state tax in FL to someone playing for the Paris NFL franchise and they might have to earn 2x or more from a salary perspective in France to be at equity.

It's less time than it takes to ride a greyhound bus from Tuscaloosa to Atlanta. Also...the fastest flight time the Concorde recorded from New York to London was two hours and fifty-three minutes.

This sounds right. That was the same age range I was in when my interest in sports started to dwindle. Nothing really against it but with the increased responsibility of home ownership, kids, family and parents getting older sports just didn't seem so important anymore

I thought this thread was about the Jets permanently moving to Europe
