I drove from Mobile to Birmingham last weekend. Sitting in your SUV with two boys coming back from a trip to the USS Alabama, and all of a sudden you're behind some backup for road construction, and the tablets and Nintendo batteries start dying, and you're the one having to drive the whole way since there are no other adults is a long four hours. Professional athletes and coaches hopping on a plane and landing 4 hours later is not.

Might want to recheck that. Federal income tax rate for a single filer is 35% for income above $250K and 37% above $626K. Plus state taxes
Rookie minimum in the NFL is $840K and veterans are $1M+ minimum depending on how many years they've been in the league.

There's a finite supply of quality starting QB's. Now the league wants to spread that supply even thinner so we end up getting stuck with more games full of terrible offense.

Any pro athlete that opts to play in Europe is a fool due to tax considerations.
The NFL and NBA would be able to negotiate tax considerations with the UK / Germany for players and staff to make it feasible. This is a non issue.
For the UK or Germany getting 33% new tax revenue plus NFL franchise/s is better than getting 0% new tax revenue and no NFL franchise/s

I thought the only nation doing that was France for soccer players?
Italy discontinued it and its an ongoing issue with Canada so I don't agree at all that its a non-issue.

Moving the Jags and Chargers to London and Berlin would probably increase their fanbases by a lot.

All of you older baws disenchanted with pro sports need to give European soccer (mainly the premier league) a serious look.
All those league maybe have three or four teams worth a shite and if you’re not one of their fans why even bother?

Compare someone playing for the Jags with no state tax in FL to someone playing for the Paris NFL franchise and they might have to earn 2x or more from a salary perspective in France to be at equity.
Until you account for the fact that they get taxed on away games...

Do you want 50% of your checks being taxed at 23% with no state tax or 50% of your games taxed at 45% with a super earner tax that could take it up to 65%+?

one can say the same for college football. Really only a couple of good teams in each conference if we're being honest.

- the obvious quality of life between Paris... and Jacksonville?
at that gap, taxes arent the end all be all
- why arent no income tax states Washington, Texas, FL, Tennessee, Neveda getting all the free agents and championships then?

Even pro athletes probably can’t handle the jet lag from supersonic speeds and it won’t work

A) Paris isn’t what it was a decade ago
B) you’re talking about millions or even tens of millions of dollars of difference over a career in tax considerations. It matters.

You would need 2-3 planes to bring just the players.
NFL players aren't small.
