Companies will now have to pay 100,000, rather than 1,000, to bring an Indian tech worker into America.

I’d imagine this will have a decent effect on tech salaries as labor supply contracts

I was just going to say, I can't wait to see what our biggest fan of H-1Bs thinks.

We hired 5 Indian guys years ago one network guy, one sys admin, one exchange and two desktop support guys. They didn't even make it 6 months before we fired all of them. They were worthless. Most of them lie about education, skills, and work history and don't know shite. They are no threat to any American that has any semblance of communication and IT skills/experience at least on the infrastructure side. Applications like SAP might be a different story.

Try working for one of the biggest abusers of the H1Bs, my Indian company. My job prospects are about to get much, much, brighter. I was the last non H1B on a team of 12 at my last client.

ETA: All of our corporate communications are rife with bullshite like, "kindly revert to same." If you want me to fricking reply to you, just say that. And the endless Teams messages like this, "Hi Lemmy" 20 minutes goes by. Then I send a "?" Then they don't respond to me for a day, etc.

And, they'll let meetings run 30m over, they'll call you out of the blue without scheduling a meeting to give you any context, frick them.

I was told Americans were too dumb to do these jobs & we needed to hire more guys who wipe their asses with their hands.

They're weapons grade AI email writers though. I swear they don't right good morning without passing it through a chatbot first anymore.

Single greatest economic policy of my lifetime. Regardless of what else he does in office, if this sticks, its a successful presidency.

This is what I hated while working with them. Some of them had “master degrees” in engineering but couldn’t handle the most basic task.

Is this only targeting India or all countries? I hope my Koreans don't have to go home. They're good dudes and all turned into America loving rednecks.

Indians make up 73% of H1B recipients. Chinese are 2nd at 12%.
