I keep getting told “Oh you just haven’t had the right stuff!” Well I’ve been to 5 Jamaican restaurants with great reviews now, and I would expect that eventually it would be something special. What am I missing? This isn’t nearly as good as other chicken dishes around the globe ranging from Southern Fried all the way to Korea.

All I know is when I was in Jamaica for a wedding I ate jerk chicken every single day it was that good.
I honestly have yet to try it at any place other than making it myself

Also not a fan of the jerk chicken.
More for everyone else, I guess.

Sounds like you just don’t like it. I do, but that doesn’t mean everyone should.

I can't believe that the rating of jerk chicken matters enough to drive a person to make a thread lamenting the rating of jerk chicken.

Where do you live with 5 Jamaican restaurants with great reviews? NYC?

There are several solid places in NOLA that serve what I'd consider good jerk chicken. Allspice just may not be for you.

Jamaicans cook the shite of the meat until it’s past dead. Part of the culture where some have minimal refrigeration. That’s why the curried goat, rice and peas, and fish head soup with festival are much better options sometimes.
Forgot the oxtails!

Buy some legs and thighs and rub this marinade all over the meat and under the skin. Smoke for a few hours or just grill if you don't want to take the time, It's great. Make a side of coconut rice, Caribbean black beans, and some Caribbean corn or roasted corn. Maybe try some baked plantain if you don't want to fry.
