What are some activities you used to have to do before computers and cell phones, that you would never need to do anymore.

I was a map and atlas guy for along time, well into about 2015, before I finally cracked and gave into the Google god.

I miss organizing meetups. Everyone had to be at a specific location at a specific time, otherwise they were shite out of luck.

This technology was not a big part of my life until about 15 years ago.

Nothing better than cracking open and getting the fresh smell of that year's new Rand McNally atlas and seeing what roads had changed. We took a cross country road trip every summer and I would trace our route in the atlas as went went along. I was special.

Using printed versions of hotel company directories to search for a location and find a phone number so that you could call to make a reservation for vacations etc.

Same for rental car and airline reservations having to contact a person directly.

Talk on the phone far more than I wanted to. Text messaging is a godsend.

-Carrying cash
-Carrying car keys
-Having to buy CDs to listen to music
-Not knowing the local weather without watching TV for at least 10 minutes.

I miss none of these things.

Stop at a gas station to ask for directions.

If your car broke down, walk to the nearest house and hope you didn't get shot.

I still do all of those things. For local weather I just look out the window, maybe peek out the front door. Yep, it's raining.

But you don’t have to do that anymore (maybe not the car keys part), right?

That’s what the OP is asking. What things have cell phones and computers made unnecessary.

EDIT: From the first post. Maybe y’all have a different way of interpreting:

Back in the day, having to watch some bs ESPN game to watch the bottom line for an update on the LSU or Tulane football games.
Then, getting distracted, missing it/them, and having to continue to watch.
