Sack numbers for the DEs taking after Isaiah Foskey

Keion White - 5 (also an excellent run defender)
Tuli Tuipulotu - 7 (8 as a rookie)
Byron Young - 6 (8 as a rookie)
Yaya Diaby - 2 (10 as a rookie)
The only other 2nd/3rd round DE that hasn't been good is Zach Harrison on the Falcons.
Also, the DTs picked after Foskey have been impressive:
Kobie Turner (5 sacks this season/ 9 as a rookie)
Gervon Dexter (6 sacks this season)
Keanu Benton (excellent run defender)
What a whiff of a pick.

Can’t stand all these “high potential” players we draft instead of going after proven college names. All that potential is either not there or they show it on another team..

Yea I really liked Keion White. I was all in for Branch tho. But would have been ok with either as the pick.
Fosky wasn’t even on my radar of someone I would have taken.

Foskey had a better college career than all those guys listed and had a better draft year than all but one.

I don't necessarily mind swinging for the fences on a player like Foskey once in a while but it's become a Saints draft theme lately.
I posted this in another thread and it's really shocking to see how many wasted 1st and 2nd round pick the saints have gone through.

Rankins lived up to his potential til a devastating Achilles injury, he's still contributing at least.
Ruiz is a conundrum. The amount of disdain ppl had about peat and lack thereof about Ruiz needs to flip flop.

No what he was drafted that high to be your star LT.
I give him credit he was able to salvage his career as a guard but you're kidding yourself if you think the Saints didn't miss on him big time as a LT he was drafted to be.

After watch Baun dominate this year in Philly I’m not even sure it’s the player. Just about all of our top round draft picks move on and become really productive.

Baun was definitely misused as was Eliss IMO.

I hear guys talking up Hodges as a LBer coach on the local Saints cover guys, well mainly one, but I don't see it. IMO he gets too much credit for Dom Davis and not enough blame the for the rest of the LBr room to be honest.

The man has a history of great linebacker play. ( See the Dome Patrol)
Baun has played himself into a lucrative contract which will cut into Philly's salary cap.
Fangio will eventually move on and Baun's play might fall off still with a high salary in the books.

I believe Foskey over White had to do with the Saints moving off their prototype fixation. I think I remember DA talking about looking for a guy with more bend and more pass rushing potential, since we only draft lumbering bull rushers at that position.
Throw in Foskey being a team captain, high character guy, and openly lobbying the Saints to draft him, you can see why they went that way.

Foskey was very productive in college. The biggest questions about him going into the draft were his athleticism and if he had already hit his ceiling.
The pick felt very similar to Kikaha in 2015. Super productive college player that didn't translate to the NFL bc of lack of athleticism.

I think the Saints try to get too cute with "culture fit" in the first two rounds
