Edward Arnold starred as a blind detective in a pair of films in the 40s, Eyes in the Night (1942) and The Hidden Eye (1945)

his seeing eye dog was played by a German Shepherd named Friday - here he is with co-star Donna Reed:



this dog does amazing, difficult stunts throughout the two films, but despite this never graced the silver screen again



really entertaining semi-noir, Arnold is particularly good as the blind sleuth, and of course Mantan Moreland is his usual brilliant self, but Friday steals the show

The Grey was a great thriller about a pack of wolves showing man who was boss in the Alaskan back country.

I'd say the best dog acting of all time was the border collie Snoop in Anatomy of a Fall.
