I’ll forever be grateful to early 90s Nickelodeon for having this in their lineup.

Edward Arnold starred as a blind detective in a pair of films in the 40s, Eyes in the Night (1942) and The Hidden Eye (1945)
his seeing eye dog was played by a German Shepherd named Friday - here he is with co-star Donna Reed:
this dog does amazing, difficult stunts throughout the two films, but despite this never graced the silver screen again
really entertaining semi-noir, Arnold is particularly good as the blind sleuth, and of course Mantan Moreland is his usual brilliant self, but Friday steals the show

I remember the Benji movies when I was a kid.
And who could forget Milo and Otis?

I'd say the best dog acting of all time was the border collie Snoop in Anatomy of a Fall.
