Food and clothing are the only cost for children?

I've heard my colleagues who have children talk about what they spend. Daycare alone is expensive enough that one spouse having a job may not even be worth it. Not to mention insurance, schooling, sports/activities, etc....

Kids aren't cheap.

You seem to have forgotten medical and dental expenses. Braces cost a fricking fortune and insurance doesn’t cover shite.

then they turn 35, want kids, and the suitors are either coming off of divorce, older, or garbage.
and the women themselves aren't as desirable.
funny, really

I'd advise someone to either have kids in your 20s or not st all. I'm pushing 50 and my wife is 44. No kids at home.

We get to enjoy things together way ourselves and have so much fun. I took my eife fishing this morning early (we got up at 330 am) to catch shad. She landed a 29" 12 lbs striper. We have plenty of money and are looking towards early retirements instead of worrying household bills.

Imagine telling your father that you’re ending his bloodline, and instead, you’re getting vacations and a time-share.

Thanks for MY existence, but, F#[{ YOU, Dad.

I think most dads would be more angry with you for buying a timeshare rather than ending a bloodline. This ain’t the Middle Ages anymore.

Some people don't choose to have children and that is ok. But I have seen that foght on the OT before.

Just examples.

I raised two, as the primary income earner while my wife worked part time. We had decent cars, a decent house, the kids had decent clothes, we went on vacations, they participated in sports. We did not live in a city but a fairly long commute from my job in one. My wife worked part time at night at a non career type job so we didn’t need daycare. That’s where we sacrificed…I didn’t make huge money but just kinda average. The entire time I listened to people, at those sporting events etc, who earned more complain how they couldn’t get by without two incomes. This was because their cars were nicer, their homes bigger, and their vacations more frequent. For the most part, if two adults put their mind to it they can figure out how to afford children. Lots of govt help (not talking welfare, just things like child tax credits, deductions etc).

They can buy hip clothes for extravagant vacations so their instagram is tight if they don’t have kids.

Paid for two sets. Around 5 grand each. Ortho offered a 0%plan if you needed it..but we used some of the Covid money they handed out to 90% of the middle class.

I’m pro-having kids with no age qualifiers. I don’t have an issue with people enjoying their youth rather than changing shitty diapers at 24.

I can’t imagine that being empty nesters at age 50 is worth not having kids at all. Sounds sad.
