It gave you options of 20, 25 and 30%. Why are focused on that one rather than other 2?

Furthermore you have the option to tip what amount you choose.

Sounds like you are just looking for a reason to bitch….over a topic that’s been discussed ad nauseum.

I personally think good service deserves a reasonable tip.

The problem I have is that everyone who serves you something now days expects a tip. I look at the local coffee shop person making $9-$15 an hour differentely than a server at a restaurant.

We have a local Mexican resturant in BR we like to go to maybe twice a month on Fridays. Our son enjoys it as well. We normally have the same server who is respectful and hard working, our bill is normally $65-$85 . We always a tip her 25-35% of the bill.

Guess my point is like anything in life it should be earned not given are feeling entitled. Really the problem with a lot of society today IMO

Did you not see that you had three options and you have the ability to write in the tip? Those numbers are for morons who can't do math. Not sure what category you fall into.

Truth, put it on there and you'll get it every now and then.

I just tip 20% most of the time, even if it's bad service. Sometimes people have off days. I know I sure as hell do on my job.

I hate restaurants that ask for tips I'd they aren't full service dine in.
I avoid them if possible.
There's now a tip jar at convenience stores.

We recently had a waitress at a local restaurant get on facebook for a local group and lose her mind over tipping (or stinginess). Not a good look.

If you are a waitress and not enjoying your compensation, given the shortage of jobs couldn't you just go to a different job? Maybe one that doesn't require staying up all night handing people ketchup bottles and hoping you get an extra $10 with each table?

I'll tip 30% if I'm by myself and my meal is around 15 and just pay 20. Not if it's a 100-200 family meal.

The funny part is that most adults do not know how to calculate a tip, so they just deal with what is put on there.
I do 15% most of the time. If you did a great job, I'll give you 20-25%. If you are a hot piece, then 30%.

Went to Jimmy John’s yesterday and was told by the guy at the counter that “the machine is gonna prompt you with something” and it was suggested tip:

15%
18%
20%
25%

Nowhere was there a 0 option. You have to click “Other Amount” and then enter 0. It was fricking ridiculous. Especially at a fricking Jimmy John’s.

I tip 20% before taxes for quality, sit down service. $3 for pizza pick up at local place. Less than 20% for sub par service. Zero for anywhere else. If a service charge or gratuity pops up on bill, that’s the tip. Sometimes the latter is split by staff. If service charge is not the tip, it’s not my concern, tough. Every business under the sun has suddenly decided to screw the consumer. Let them go out of business, folks are getting tired of it. Even to-go containers are charged for when before Covid, they weren’t.

The suggested tips have gotten fricking ridiculous.

The neighborhood bbq place doesn't have an option for "custom tip," so they get nothing instead of the $20 bucks or whatever the frick is suggested for freaking takeout. And food trucks wanting full service tips? frick that.

Why tip on the total price of your food? Does it take more effort to bring a $25 steak to my table than a $10 hamburger?

Do people really actually take the time to calculate tip percentages? I usually just slap down a whole number that sounds good for whatever the total is

With that being said what happened to 18% being the standard tip? Starting at 20% is ridiculous

The single most discussed subject in the history of mankind.

I thought 15% was the standard. I'm behind the times apparently.

Protocol is 15% during the day, and 20% at night. Generally, I give more, because I'm a generous person. Anyone who doesn't tip, is awful. Livelihoods depend on them
