Ideal age gap for a relationship if you want it to last

“The heart wants what to heart wants” and “age is just a number” are well-versed clichés – and you just can’t help who you fall head over heels for.

According to a study conducted by Emory University in Atlanta, the bigger the difference, the bigger the chance of separation.
quote:
After analyzing 3,000 people, it found that couples with a five-year age gap are 18 percent more likely to split up than those of the same age.
quote:
Interestingly, that figure rose to 39 percent for couples with a 10-year age gap and a shocking 95 percent for those with a 20-year age gap.
quote:
So, just how big is too big of an age difference?
quote:
Contrary to popular belief, researchers believe that the sweet spot lies in just a one-year gap between spouses who have a much smaller chance of separation at just three percent.

40/2+7=27 statistically doesn't work long-term, but short-term, it might feel superb.

Gotta get in a relationship before you can worry about keeping the relationship.

Because at some point the guy who was a decent looking 40 yr old is an old fart and the woman is still pretty young and attractive.
In all seriousness, I do think people who are generally in the same phase of life probably have an easier marriage. I realize there are tons of exceptions to any sort of stat like this.

As an immature OT poster, I feel women 7-10 years my junior are perfect

Those numbers aren't raw probabilities.

...doesn't mean 95% chance of separation. It means nearly double the chance of separation than couples of the same age.
Not a great stat, but doesn't mean you're 95% doomed.

10-15% if you are young. 25% if you are older than 35.

I'm in the latter half of my 40s. My dad is in his 70s and women still say he's hot. I'm gonna take my chances.

I think no more than 7 years.

Sure, men age better, but I also think an attractive 36 year old woman that's married to a 51 yr old man will also be getting attention from 36 year old men.
It makes sense to me that larger age gaps would produce higher divorce rates.

Is that first go round or second go round marriages?

Need a bit more information.
Just exactly how big is her ranch?

I agree, but i think the man being about five years older works best. A healthy woman plummets sexually after menopause, while a healthy man keeps going strong.

Also the 36 year old is going to relate better to another 36 year old than a 51 year old. Now that 36 year old guy is probably banging 23 year olds and doesn't want her anyway.
We went and saw live music the other night and the old men with the younger women just looked out of place.
*it was much more difficult for older guys to even sleep with younger chicks before little blue pills.

Dont marry a whore and it goes down exponentially

There is only one gap that matters

The woman should be half the man's age + 7 years. So says the honorable Elijah Muhammed - and if it's good enough for the Nation of Islam, it's good enough for me.

CAD, can I get your wife's number before y'all get divorced?
Posted on 4/22/24 at 7:41 pm to Will Cover
Have to love made up statistics. They should have made it something more believable because given ~50% of all marriages end in seperation/divorce, that number being 3% is completely absurd. It's blatant things like this that make people start to realize the news isn't for reporting, it's real purpose is to push an agenda and mandate or modify public policy. And that leads to apathy and a loss of trust
