A question about Middle-Eastern countries

Why are these middle-eastern countries so inept at everything? They don't seem to be able to do anything right and can't get their shite together at all.
They lose every conflict they get involved in. They look really stupid and their religion really sucks arse.
Nothing good ever seems to happen for them when they say Alahu Akbar.
They are the top of the line when I think of losers in this world.
How can anyone suck this bad and still live?

The Taliban says hi. The Mujahideen also beat back the Soviets (with significant American help).

That wasn't always the case. They have conquered vast lands.
Istanbul was once Constantinople.
They've been in a down cycle for the past century but that doesn't mean they can't pull out of it.

There are a handful of countries that have a good quality of life there. I would say UAE isn’t that bad. Probably Kuwait and maybe Saudi Arabia. I can’t name them all, but some areas life is pretty good. Somebody mentioned Oman on the travel board as a decent country.

The whole region is a shithole. Lots of low iq people due to inbreeding etc.

You’re looking at them from the viewpoint of a westerner. Their perspective is likely very different. The region has been in conflict for millennia.

One problem is that Middle Eastern countries can't get on the same page. There are a lot of regional disputes like Saudi Arabia vs Iran, Saudi Arabia vs Yemen, Iraq vs Iran, etc.

Isreal is in this mess because the Christians were beaten by Saladin in 1187 to end the 2nd Crusade.

Lots of tribalism with various ethnic and religious groups having populations intermingled together.
Competition for scarce water resources.
Technology rendering the few natural borders relatively indefensible.
Arbitrary borders drawn up in the 20th century that illogically bundle disparate groups together and separate populations from the resources they rely on (Iraq is especially unstable because of this).
Islamic prohibitions against usury prevented the creation of financial sectors that could create money multipliers and build national economies of scale.
Communist influence during the Cold War that prevented economies from growing.
“Resource curse” as all profits from oil extraction go to a small corrupt elite as the peasants get nothing. Elites don’t have to GAF about the peasants since they don’t contribute to oil extraction nor are they a significant market. They only exist as mouths to feed or soldiers.

And yet we are allowing them to come here and destroy us from within. Shots or no shots made, we've been complacent.
If Trump gets back in one of the first things he needs to put an end to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Zeihan gave the most succinct answer to this I’ve ever seen… it’s still 16 minutes, but that’s about the best speed-run you can do through a thousand or so year period of lagging development

Take a look at satellite photo of Iran and Tehran. Mostly rocks and sand. The capital city is laid out in an insane fashion.
Their religion is regressive at best and keeps the people stuck back in 900 A.D. .
I have a friend who is a physicist that is from Iran. He has a beautiful wife and family here in Baton Rouge. He agrees with the above and will not travel back to Iran.

They were really good at math about 1,000 years ago. That's why the world uses Arabic Numbers.

The smaller ones have it together.

My personal opinion...
The reason is the term "Insh'allah".
It means "god willing". In reality it means "if allah wanted me to pick up all this trash, he'd make me do it. So the fact that there is trash everywhere is his will".
That's a bit extreme but I spent some time in the middle east and this is what I personally witnessed with my own eyes.

They are tribal, driven by a warped and lack of credible religion...governed by monarchs/despots

I've known a few "imports" to the US. Anedocotally - the major problem I see is the desire to always be right, always be in charge and always be smarter than those below you. OK, you could look at that as a positive - but it manifests itself in a negative way.
Friend of mine in IT had a manager from the middle east. He was an engineer, who couldn't hack it as a true engineer, so they put him in charge of IT. He was so paranoid of the underlings knowing more than him - that he would not approve needed training for his direct reports - unless he could get the same training. He didn't want anyone to ever have an advantage - he couldn't manage a team as it was all about him.
One story - but from what I've heard - it's a cultural problem.

Your depth of history is amazing
If you want to say recent history...ok. But there are exceptions here too.
Anything else you are just showing great ignorance. Astronomy, mathematics, optics and medical science were all gobbled up by European monks and taken back home in the middle ages.
You were not in Afghanistan I see. Nor perhaps the cleanest city in the world Singapore?
Bless your heart.

Specifically Iran?
They developed a case of Dutch Disease, then tried to cure it with central planning by an authoritarian bureaucracy.
Despite these barriers to their development, Iran has GDP and HDI comparable to China's, a GINI coefficient comparable to Australia, and life expectancy only two years lower than the US.
Just imagine if they Iran was free from both foreign interference and domestic oppression! They would be a superpower within a generation.

Do they? The Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, French, and British have all come and gone. Theses tribes will just wait your empire out.
