i have used 18-6 IF. fast from 6 pm to noon next day. 18 hours.
then consume 150 calorie protein shakes @ 12, 2, 4, then @ 6 PM my lone meal of the day with mainly protein with a certain amount of allotted calories.
The results are surreal.

The pharmaceutical industry wants to sell you a pill that does the same things as IF.
Just like they did a study that is written to say eating a THC gummy raises your l likelihood of heart attack. They don’t want people using THC for things they sell pills for.
THC raises blood pressure for about 30 minutes but then lowers it for several hours which is why people have red eyes due to low blood pressure.
I don’t see how that can long term cause a heart attack in an otherwise healthy person. I get the same increase and decrease of blood pressure during my jogs.

I’ll go about 18 hours fast a couple of times per week by just skipping breakfast.
Add in a 24 hour about once/month. I can feel the positive effects more for this longer time. I’ve read that testosterone production for males start to naturally increase after 18 hours.
I’ve wanted to try the 3 day fast at least once but sounds tough.

I mean I wouldn’t be surprised at all if a large number of the population is intermittent fasting without trying. I mean to say someone only eats say between 11AM and 7PM wouldn’t be crazy. Many people don’t eat breakfast for lack of time to do so.

That's my point, though; not all foods spike glucose. I could skip breakfast or just have whey protein mixed in whole milk and my glucose levels were still at baseline either way. I'm a bit of an outlier in that I don't care about calories; I weigh the same regardless. I was interested in the insulin part because I have a parent with Alzheimer's.

Anybody trying to improve their metabolic health should wear a CGM for a month or two. I was very surprised at what foods did what, and it's not remotely the same for everybody.
There is a guy on IG (eddie abbew) who wears a monitor. Also does IF and his main talking point is zero sugar and to stop eating most processed foods. His diet is eggs, meat and some vegetables. He is a former bodybuilder (maybe Mr. Olympia??) and is older now and tries to get people to stop eating "shite". I think saying shite is his favorite word...

I started intermittent fasting late last November in order to get my weight back down to the weight I was for most of my life. I don't eat between 9:00pm and Noon. I've always taken my coffee with sugar and haven't been able to break that yet. Also adjusted my diet to exclude most alcohol and processed foods. I still eat crackers and some stuff like that, but have been phasing them out.
I've gone from nearly 195 pounds down to 175, previously had high blood pressure and that has gotten back to a normal range as well now. Big Pharma must have paid for this BS; every indicator from my doctors is that fasting has been highly beneficial and improved my health.
