Jimmy Dore breaks this Forbes article down in his YouTube video.

Snapshot of the article:

Then Jimmy opines on Ed Dowd's twitter posts concerning this study:

Ed Dowd is like a prophet:

They basically just want people to have zero clue what’s true or not. Well, the people that would believe what the news tells them, that is.

I had not heard of this. I'm legit curious what led to these conclusions and the population sample, etc.

I don't do IF intentionally but I've never really been a breakfast eater and I don't eat late dinners typically, so technically I engaged in IF for years.

I do intermittent fasting and I have no idea what that quote means.
I do a 24 hour fast once a month. I eat my last meal at 2pm Monday and my next meal 2pm Tuesday. Just water and then coffee with no sugar on Tuesday morning.
I'm not trying to lose weight. Just trying to avoid a gain.

This whole topic makes me so pissed.

Intermittent fasting is a magic bullet and goddamnit the government cannot tell me what time to eat.

Intermittent fasting does to your body what Ozempic does with chemicals. It improves sleep, mood, hormone balance, and promotes weight loss. This bullshite finding highlighted by Dore - is PROPAGANDA for Big Pharma.

I practice IF and weigh what I did in my 20s. Starting it was a total game changer.

Scientists have been studying its neurologic, anti-inflammatory and cardiac effects of IF - FOR DECADES. They even think it has potential to prevent Alzheimer’s, which IF devotees often call Type III diabetes.

In 2020, the American Journal of Cardiology found that the Mediterranean Diet combined with intermittent fasting reduced mortality from heart issues BY 30 percent. So now we’ve reversed ourselves? WTAF.

The entire pharmaceutical industry can frick right off. If you get your diet under control, you don’t need their fricking drugs to stay alive.

I watched this video about a wk ago and was basically shouting in agreement.

16:8 olive oil, avocado oil, lean proteins, and whole foods in your window. Game changer.

ETA - there’s a reason all major religions incorporate fasting. Promotes clarity, and good health.

I hate everything

I'm kind of on the same schedule. I don't eat breakfast and eat regular sized lunch and dinner. My biggest weakness is late night fruit. I wouldn't say that I'm on IF but I don't overconsume calories, regularly.

But back to the article. I just think Jimmy Dore's assessment is correct. This is big pharma paid propaganda.

But subsequent to this article by Forbes they must have received a lot of push back because they are now backtracking:

Claims That Intermittent Fasting Increases Death Risk By 91% Are Premature

I have been doing this for like 4 years or so. I live by it. I do a 16/8 split. I only eat from 12 pm-8 pm. I am going on 44 years old and the health benefits have been amazing. I would be dead by now if this article was true. I look forward to my heart disease

To get my bearings here… this is a fake study lying about the risks of intermittent fasting when intermittent fasting is actually good?

Have the authors of the study seen Americans in their native Walmart habitat?

That is a major accomplishment that takes tremendous will power. Keep it up.

I'm about to start a health kick and one way to ensure I avoid any snacking late is to brush my teeth at the cutoff.

I won't eat once I brush my teeth. Currently the cutoff is 8pm.

I'm actually going to experiment with eating lots of soluble fiber at times to make my body feel more full and force me to drink a ton of water.

If I had to guess, the reason that study had the huge increase in risk of death etc was due to a bad sample population. If you take an unhealthy population (like me) who is starting IF, then obviously we will have more negative outcomes than a more representative sample.

What ever they are warning you against, you should do. I’m not a big IF guy but they recently attacked nicotinic acid as well. Y’all should look into it.

Watch any nature show and you will see fasting is just how things work for mammals and carnivores. They don't have grocery stores or refrigerators.

Intermittent fasting is more of a daily lifestyle routine and not once a month. In general, it refers to going at least 16hours with zero calorie intake every day. Some will take it a bit further and just eat one meal a day giving them 23-24 hours of fasting every day.

Now I just have to figure out a good trick to wake up at 500-530 consistently.

Which means the real trick is being asleep by 900-930pm
