Several years ago, I saw a FB post from a woman I went to HS with many years ago. She grew up to be a marine wife and mother...hubby had just gotten his first star (now retired as a two-star); son was a two-striper. In response to the question, "what's the optimum number of women in a combat unit, she retorted why it would be any number other than 'zero.'"

She went on to put it another way: "Imagine your father/son/brother/husband/boyfriend is a soldier or marine who has been wounded and is now pinned down in a firefight. His sergeant can spare one soldier/marine to go rescue him. That's the bad news. The good news is you get to pick the soldier/marine. Are you sending a man or a woman?" That about sums it up better than any other argument I've ever heard on the subject.

And that means nothing. Also, I've never seen a platoon with 72 people.

Newsflash, women can’t do anything on the battlefield better than men can. Maybe with technology they can operate robot warriors, but that day isn’t now. Your imaginary wonderland where women compete with men isn’t here yet. It’s a fantasy.

It's only meaningless if your original data is meaningless...which it is. So, you have a point, but not the point you think you have.

I get it now: this is another instance of you not having an argument, but trying to drag it out as long as possible.

My argument is that your data is mostly irrelevant. You supported that argument with little effort on my part. TYFYS.

Is it your contention that our military infantry forces have a service-need for female infantry due to personnel and numbers issues? Or is it your position that female infantry is necessary for political or equity reasons?

Do our infantry forces require a number of female infantry in order to fill out the ranks, i.e. fill out the TO&E so that our infantry squads are combat effective?

Numbers-wise could our infantry squads do well without female infantry?

How do Israeli female fighters do? Haven’t they had women in combat for awhile?

I would guess that mean, vindictive, a fear of being raped, and heavily armed makes for effective homeland defense against poorly trained aggressors attacking your homesteads.

Now, you could load the border patrol with armed women who think Mexicans are going to rape and kill them, and it would also be effective.

But that's a different mission than what the Marines and Army are training for.

A combat unit gains NOTHING by admitting women, but risks all the things outlined above.

This. I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps infantry (1/8, 1/2, and 2/6), and I agree that allowing women into combat arms sacrifices readiness for political correctness. MCRD and SOI on the west coast. It would be impossible for a female to keep up carrying the same combat loads their male counterparts are carrying. Simply put, any WM in a combat unit would be a liability, not an asset.

On a side note, I was on the first LHA that allowed women naval enlisted to deploy with us. It was a freaking goat rope, as expected. Two out of the four were sent home, pregnant. One of the others was injured somehow. Completely useless. I’d hate to see how bad it’s gotten today.

This is just dumb. The question wasn’t are they nice people, it was can they run fast, fight a 200 pound man hand to hand, or pull your wounded arse behind cover. I don’t want a 115 pound woman doing any of that. If you say you do, you’re a liar.

Unloading a trailer of thousands of pounds of cottonseed makes me consider (40-45# a bag) whether I needed to vomit or not. That shite would make a female Crossfit chick blow chunks. And a 155m round weighs twice of each bag. But yeah, make that group of soldiers wait another couple of seconds for support. No.
