It’s been several years now since women have been allowed to serve in the infantry.

Are there any Marines who can give insight to the impact it’s having? Or is it business as usual?

There was a C-SPAN panel on women in combat roles last month and the USMC general made a comment along the lines of:

“Many people outside of the USMC thought this would have a negative impact, and to none of our surprise, we met the challenge and we’re better for it.”

However I’d like to hear from people at the ground level.

Neighbor was arty instructor and was with the training observation of implementing women into arty. They were pretty cool ppl and seemed well respected when they’d come over and party on the weekends. I don’t think it should be a slot to fill but if women want to explore options and it gets approved I really don’t have a problem with it.

Now that women are able to vote, they should represent us on every front line of every military branch we have.

It is crucial, especially, since we are better for it.

It’s been proven by the Marine Corps in war games that all male units are superior to coed units in combat.

Females get injured too often and couldn’t complete many of the physical tasks required in combat.

All male units will slaughter coed and all female units. No doubt about it.

I'm not active duty anymore, but a lot of my friends still are. There aren't enough females coming into their battalions for it to change much. Just like dudes, some are gtg and some are shitbags. The same problems you get from female 03s, you get from females in S1, etc.

So, not as big of a deal as some want to make it, from both sides...

They were forced to do a trial run with artillery during the Obama years. The results were promptly ignored, as everyone knew they would be unless they were the correct results.

This isn't the concern. The concern is when (not if) minimum quotas are established for any reason that isn't "increased effectiveness, performance, lethality, and readiness".

There was a (thankfully squashed) proposal in the Army to force women to assess Infantry that didn't want to volunteer to leave their current career fields.

Agree. I do find it weird they now have females at MCRD SD when women have enough medical problems at PI. I recruited 3 females and they had massive hip problems, can’t imagine what they’re seeing after field training at Pendleton.

Yawn. I'll care if that ever becomes reality.

What was the biggest hidden disqualifier you found with your deps (medically)? For us it was unknown or treated respiratory issues (asthma when the deps didn't know they were asthmatic).

My cousin was a boot drop because she fricked her hip up. Of course, she's an idiot and loves to pretend she's right up there with my brother and I.

The Marines, being the smallest service, have the option to be more selective/restrictive. Unfortunately, the Army is where a lot of bad ideas start and become DOD policy.

I’m sure female infantry would be valuable prizes if captured alive by the enemy troops.
