I guess the purity is gone. The college game will no longer be about the school but all about the revenue. Time will tell if this model is sustainable.

At what point do they not even have to attend classes anymore

I just want to know how the NCAA can limit someone to a certain numbers of years of eligibility.

Yes this has been known. They can do it as many times as they want.
That’s why signing day means nothing anymore. As soon as you sign and even enroll you can get a better offer and leave

I don't know how these coaches do it anymore. I couldn't imagine having to recruit an entire roster every single season.

This is dumb...like really dumb. But, when you open Pandora's box this is what you get. RIP college sports.

We already know that in person events are slowing. Wonder if this will have an affect on TV viewing as well.

If we are going to treat college like this with NIL then they should be signing contracts that keep them at the school until they are released from their contracts.

If you’re transferring that many times you aren’t asking for a bunch of money. My son’ll commit to coaches…what happens if they get fired after a year? Following your guy seems normal…it happening twice is shite luck though. People find the outliers and complain…but really, I don’t see the problem.
It used to be rough…say you’re good enough for an SEC scholarship, sitting out a year is terrible, as is playing in a dumpy conference.

Time for the SEC, BIG10 and ACC to abandon the NCAA and impose some reasonable regulation on NIL and transfers.

It’s always been about the money. The players are finely getting their just due.

That ruling was in December, are you just getting this?
Posted on 3/26/24 at 9:13 am to Timeoday
This is retarded. College athletics is becoming a joke.

Should lsu make another run at Denver Harris?

This has been in place since December. The West Virginia judged granted a TRO ordering that the NCAA could, temporarily, not enforce the 2x transfer penalty. The NCAA then stated they would not enforce the rule for the remainder of this academic year. I don't think there was ever a permanent ruling or the NCAA addressing whether or not they would continue to allow 2x transfers without penalty following this year.
Nonetheless, the NCAA sees the writing on the wall that they would likely lose in court. So I think it's pretty reasonable to believe the rule won't be enforced beyond this year.
When conferences starting signing multi-million, now multi-billion dollar media rights deals, and generating millions upon millions in revenue it stopped being simply an "academic extracurricular" and started being a lucrative entertainment business. The sooner people can accept that fact the sooner things will make a little more sense.
The downside is the above logic really only applies to football and men's basketball. The other sports are more in line with being academic extracurriculars as they don't, alone, generate anywhere close to the revenue football and basketball do. That means football and basketball will continue to have a huge revenue market. The question will be how does a business (i.e. the schools/conferences) survive if they have to keep funding "unprofitable product lines" such as volleyball, golf, swimming, baseball (and most schools), softball, etc.? Will those sports eventually be cut?

No problem.
There is a simple remedy.
They want that NIL money, start making them sign contracts, JUST LIKE IN THE PROS.
