Just a heads up: Best Buy executives are expecting soft sales in 2024 and are warning that layoffs and other cost saving measures may be announced by the company. The number of job cuts are currently unclear, but CEO Corie Barry says the savings would be reinvested into the business or would offset inflationary pressures.
So a questionable business model with crappy service is going this way? they could soon be the next Circuit City.

Around the holidays i went in there and they had a million people walking around and one chick checking people out at customer service.
Can i help you? yeah go walk over to that register and start checking people out, stop handing me trash on my way in.

I believe so.
Their stores now look terrible on the inside. Unkept, empty.
Every sign of closing down appears to be knocking. Amazon, Walmart, BABA, JD, PDD, Coupang.
Theres just so much competition that literally delivers.

Electronics company says best “bye” to staff

Impossible. I was told that this economy was strong. And to trust our federal level estimates on job growth even though it conflicts with state level numbers.

Retail is notorious for cutting jobs and closing stores in February/March.

Honestly, Best Buy's survival up to this point has been impressive.
I bought my last TV there because I wanted to look at all of them side by side.

I go into the store on black friday and buy a tv.
In stock should be able to walk out with tv right? Wrong.
"Wont be ready for an hour."
No big deal probably could use a bigger vehicle than the elantra i was in anyway.
Go switch cars, eat lunch, and come back.
Still not ready.
Ask someone in customer service and "they have no record of sell." get told to wait another hour and come back.
Didnt feel like going back home so I just hang out in the store.
3 hours later still no tv.
I go back home.
2 hours later I get a text its read
Get to store.
They still have no record in store of the sell (keep in mind I bought the damn thing in the store)
Decided I wasnt leaving without tv and annoy them into submission.
At that moment I decided I was done making bigger purchases there.
Theyve done this to themselves as far as im concerned.

Best Buy's demise began with last week's OT rant against them. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)

Bestbuy seems to not really know what it wants to be. It tries to have a bit of everything, from computers to phones to appliances to TVs, etc. But that means that its selection of any of those things isn’t very good. A couple of decades ago, that was fine, but it just doesn’t work anymore.

Buy stock. When staff cutting starts, stocks go up.
Honestly, I am surprised there are still as many retail physical locations as there are. With the internet an all.
It seems bigger retail stores that rent, like department stores in malls could reduce their rent cost by getting into smaller stores and places like best buy could shut down some stores and use the land for something more profitable. But I could see a new type of mall pop up that has smaller starts of all the major retail places that have some items available, but is more of a customer service location where people can go exchange items, etc. That way, you only need a few people working, but it would have to be something more than just a mall. It could be some form of entertainment where the smaller stores also serve as advertising. And security would have to be a top priority. You can't just have typical mall cops fricking off. In today's world you need a place where if someone tries to do some dumb shite, there will be people right there ready to act.

I'm probably in the minority but I like Best Buy. They price match everybody and it's usually easy in easy out with what I went for.
