Catch them in a live trap. Throw live trap in an ice chest filled with water.

Zero noise.

Start feeding neighborhood cats in your front yard. Those squirrels will disappear. Or bait and shoot. Hollow point 22 pellets will knock them out and you don't have to worry about a 22 round going through a neighbors window.

We used to shoot them with a pellet gun. Those frickers are smart and figured us out pretty quick. As soon as our back door opened, they’d scatter. Got to the point we’d have to quietly pump it inside, slip out the front door and sneak around to the back.

Got some of those rat bait chunks with the hole in them. Nailed them to trres and fences so dogs couldn't get them. Killed the piss out of them. Bastards were eating my tomatoes

If you are in or near Lafayette I will trap them live and humanely and release them in the woods by my home. Yo I pay for bait and call me when one is in two and out a cover over it so they stay calm.

Same here. I’ve killed at least 30 squirrels in the past 2 years in my back yard. Huge live oak that they love. They used to just run around the tree with no concern for us until I started shooting them after they ruined all of our outdoor furniture cushions.

Somehow they relate to each other that I’m a danger now, despite killing most of them.

PCP are easy to refill. I go several weeks without refilling.

I started a Lead Dome project at my house in 2020. Planned community on west side of Houston.

It took me several months to see a dent in the population. I stopped counting around 180. The surrounding population kept filling in the gap. Be in it for the long haul to see lasting results.

You might as well have some fun…….
Get a good pcp…… umarex gauntlet is a good one. Around $230. A DonnyFL Tatsu silencer is about $125. Vevor sells a pcp air compressor for around $200. I suggest a .25 caliber.
Set out some peanuts and a back stop.

Some I skin out for squirrel stew. The others I feed to the turtles.

My squirrels got smart. They stay just out of range. I have a live trap that I'll set occasionally and transfer the squirrels to my buddy's yard, when he's not home.

Poison them

Terrible idea. Please don't do it.

OP is in a neighborhood, which means there's people with outdoor pets in the area. Rat poison is basically coumadin, a blood thinner dosed by weight. Enough to kill a squirrel is enough to kill a cat or mid sized dog, maybe even a big one. And it remains viable/lethal.
The pest will go off somewhere feeling bad, to die; and then a pet will likely find and eat it. And then the pet too will die.

Cook some rice.
I’m from Mamou. Just text me the address and after one weekend your posterity will only know of squirrels as a legendary creature from days gone by that their great great grand pappy used to tell stories about

After several thousand dollars in attic wiring damage I decided it was on. I have done the same thing. Its amazing how the little bastards keep filling the void left by there comrades. Its like trying to drain a lake one drop at a time.
I have a .25 cal bancock pcp. It is incredibly accurate and has a 12 shot magazine.

Besides the things already mentioned, if you can get close to them, a .22 with rat shot will take them out and you don't have to worry about the distance the bullet will travel if you miss.

I think the biggest deterrents at our other house is a family of rat snakes, and hawks of course.

Happy hunting.

Coexisting with squirrels

Impossible if you are in very rural areas like I am. They do so much damage. They ate a sensor on my diesel High Country twice within 2 weeks. Two times for a total of $3k. A squirrel nested in my Tundra and I had to take it in to get the dash removed. Tore up all of the heat shielding inside my 05 Z71 and tried to nest in the air box under the air filter.

Honestly, I kill them with the same prejudice that I kill hogs or coyotes with. Which means I don't hunt them, I want to eliminate them.
